From Longy to Byron, North Shelly to Freshie – and all the way up to Port Mac and Yamba – NSW turned it right on at the 2025 @surfingaus Awards 🏆🌊

The induction of Cronulla’s Graham “Sid” Cassidy into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame headlined Australian surfing’s night of nights, recognising the man who helped build the very structure of modern professional surfing.

Then, turning the clock forward, it was the new wave on the pedestal. Molly Picklum @picklummolly (@northshellyboardriders) was crowned Female Surfer of the Year and Dane Henry @danehenry_ (@kingscliffboardridersclub) took out Male Surfer of the Year – a huge result for two surfers who cut their teeth in NSW boardriders rashies.

NSW’s next wave stood tall too, with Leihani Kaloha Zoric @theminishakas (@byronbayboardriders) claiming the Stephanie Gilmore Rising Star Award and Locana Cullen @_the_cullens (@nasurfriders) awarded the Mick Fanning Rising Star Award. Joel Taylor @joeljttaylor (Lennox Head) was named Male Para Surfer of the Year, while Freshwater charger Tom Myers @tom_myers (@freshwaterboardriders) took home the Heavy Water Award.

Behind the lens, photographer Josh Tabone @joshuatabone claimed Australian Surf Photo of the Year, and Simon “@skymonkey5” scored Surf Clip of the Year, flying the flag for NSW storytelling in the lineup.

In the club and community space, @longyboardriders earned the Simon Anderson Boardrider Club Award, Yamba’s @surfcamp_downunder won Surf School of the Year, and Far North Coast para surf legend Mark “Mono” Stewart @markmonostewart2481 was honoured with the Greater Good Award.

A massive congratulations to every NSW surfer, club, coach, school, filmer, photographer and community leader recognised last night – you make our state what it is 🩵
