POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Some adventures begin years before you know you’re going on them.

I met my friend Matze climbing giant sequoias in California with the Ancient Forest Society. We connected over photography, a shared sense of humour and a curiosity for complicated ways of experiencing the world.

Years later, he messaged. A team of Polish and German highliners were coming to Utah to rig a line between Castleton Tower and the Rectory. Could I help?

Of course.

I loaded hundreds of metres of static rope, over 100 cams and an unreasonable amount of rigging equipment, and headed south.

Matze and I climbed the North Chimney of Castleton, fixing ropes to raise the line from the desert floor. Nearly 500 metres separated the towers. People became specks against the sandstone as radios crackled between summits and the line slowly rose across the void.

Wind complicated everything, a storm was approaching, friends BASE jumped Castleton while we worked, and there was some questionable soloing. But the team pulled together, and eventually the line was tensioned.

Then they walked it.

Watching someone step into that much empty space, almost disappearing against the vast desert landscape, was extraordinary. A reminder of our small place in the world and our remarkable ability to imagine something improbable, then make it happen.

Perhaps that’s what I love most about these adventures. People from different corners of the world, connected by curiosity, building friendships that endure across continents and years.

Thanks to the whole crew. Until the next one.

A teraz… wrzesień. Zobaczymy, co przyniesiesz 😉

Longest purely Polish highline tandem walk so far, captured by @slackjaro, performed by me and @super_ryba69 during Poland's first legal industrial highline action in June this year. Follow link in bio to see more ▶️ We walked roughly 70-80 meters continuously on a 245 m highline. To put it in context, previously I had only managed to do 3 steps with Łukasz, and only 19.5 with another Polish person. With a long standing joke of me and Łukasz being brothers, let's see how soon will we start sending highlines as a fraternal duo 😉

The eclipse through time.

This week, a solar eclipse passed across parts of Europe, briefly changing the light and giving us images that feel almost unreal.

Long before we understood the science behind eclipses, cultures around the world gave the disappearing sun their own meaning. In ancient China, stories told of a dragon swallowing the sun, while the Inca saw an eclipse as a sign that the sun god was displeased.

Artists have been trying to capture the same phenomenon for centuries. From early religious paintings and astronomical drawings to the remarkably accurate eclipse paintings of Howard Russell Butler in the early 1900s.

With this latest eclipse, a new generation of images and artworks has been added to that history.
