In the final days of 2025, I have been reflecting on what kind of year this has been, the work I’ve produced, the people I have met, the connections I have made, the places I’ve been and how this will translate into 2026.

No doubt, 2025 has been a year of challenges and changes for most people, myself included. I am proud to witness and capture the progress of those I’ve had the privilege of working with through out the year - whether it’s been a continuous collaboration through out the years or a one-off event.

I want to continue creating more meaningful work and pieces in 2026. I want to be more intentional in the narratives I seek and capture.

In 2026, I will still be #hereforthenarrative 📷

Thank you to everyone who I have worked along side and with, everyone who has shared comments of encouragement and support throughout 2025. I don’t know how I would’ve survived this year without you 🖤

Here are some thoughtful and soft captures from the final @slamalamaslam for 2025 at @brunswickartistsbar in November 📷

Sometimes I forget I am Poet. Sometimes I forget I am writer, or artist, or weaver.

Sometimes I get so consumed in being mother, or being partner, or being facilitator, or being survivor, or being one of the million other elements of me...that I drift so far from poet I worry I might never get back.

Thats when I stop, and I listen, and reconnect.

This year the writers group, the retreat, the poets field trips and cafe dates with other artists have been my anchor point to this deeply integral part of myself.

Even if you are not writing - you are still writer
Even if you are not painting - you are still artist
Even if you are not "producing" - you are still worthy

Thank you Poet.

Thank you.

It is an absolute honour to see my name on the list of finalists for the 2025 Slamovision representing my favourite city, Melbourne (shh don't tell my home town 😉).

It was a surprise for me in many ways, as I had no idea when I entered the Slam last month that it was a qualifying round for this worldwide initiative.

The final will be held/screened in Dublin, Ireland, on Thursday, November 6th, at 7-10 pm, as part of the Dublin Book Festival. I won't be there, unfortunately, but my face and my words will.

I'd like to do a massive shout out to the Melbourne Slamalama crew, The Wheeler Centre, Melbourne UNESCO City of Literature and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature for all the work they are doing to platform this rather niche art form.

When I began performing and writing pieces 20 years ago (showing my age here), people would regularly ask me, "What's Spoken Word?" and there was still a massive flip back and forth between calling it that, or calling it "Performance Poetry. "

I love seeing this artform and the artists within it being lifted up and platformed. So thank you!

Heads up, I've never been to Ireland... so if anyone out there likes my stuff and wants to bring me over for gigs, talks, and workshops, I would be very keen. It would be lovely to touch the land of my ancestors.

tfw you realise the 'energy shift' at work is actually just a woman deciding she doesn't like you and feels a need to annihilate your source of income, but will go through a man to do the dirty work for her

PSA to tha girlies: please stop being threatened by me, i am not the problem. we are far stronger together than we are tearing each other apart, and to those of you who have done to me what you have done up until this point, you are merely reacting to something i unashamedly exhibit, and that you are too fearful to approach within yourselves. Searching for someone else to 'save' or 'protect' you from me (which is actually you) is a dangerous game to play, because at the end of the day, it is only you who loses.

tfw i get the infamous pat on the back to have a 'one-on-one' chat with yet another older Australian man in a position of power to tell me im not quite right for a position because i don't validate them in the workplace

i love Cardi B so much i can't get enough of this album

This is a snippet of my poem this week taking part in @slamalamaslam

With current tensions in #Melbourne and across the world right now, I had to #write this #poem and share my reflection at the poetry slam this week.

I moved to this beautiful city as a skilled #migrant nine years ago, and it’s no exaggeration to say that I found #belonging and #acceptance here. What I love ❤️ about Melbourne is its kind, diverse, and welcoming people. Its multicultural spirit made me feel at #home, and for that, I will always be grateful.

I hate what’s happening in the world today. The disregard for human life, the suffering, the double standards, when every human life should matter the same. I hate seeing people call for #violence and others celebrating it, while more falls into the trap of a cycle of hate. If we allow it to consume us, we risk losing our moral values.

We don’t have to agree on everything. We can debate, we can disagree but always with respect, always with the hope of working together for a better future, for our country, and for our city in this chaotic world.

This poem is an ode to Melbourne, to the city I love, and to the vision of it I hope we hold onto a city where we get along, where hope and love prevail over hate and division. This city is not defined by the hatred of a few, but it's built on the kindness of many.

Special thanks to @farismindal for filming 🎥 this poem.
