How I’m telling my kids we have Chick-fil-a at home. The bootleg way.🫸🏽☝🏽 Because not so fast with those preservatives lol I accidentally got chicken strips instead of chicken breast but we’re going to do what we got to do with what we have. How to make a Chick-fil-a sandwich from scratch.

Sometimes the Worldly Bites journey takes us around the world, and sometimes it takes us back to our roots.

Today’s culinary passport stamp takes us to Lafayette, Louisiana, where my family’s Creole heritage runs deep.

On the menu? Creole Red Snapper Courtbouillon!

I was born and raised in Berkeley, California, but my father’s family is from Lafayette. My great-grandmother spoke only Creole, and although the language wasn’t passed down to my generation, the connection to my heritage remains.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t a dish I grew up eating. I discovered it while exploring more of Louisiana’s Creole cuisine and decided to bring it into my own kitchen.

That’s the beauty of cooking. There’s always something new to discover, even within your own culture.

Some culinary passport stamps take us somewhere new. Others help us discover a little more about ourselves.

Now tell me, doesn’t this look disrespectfully good?

What’s a traditional dish from your culture that you’ve always wanted to try?
