Spring 2013 I had the pleasure of joining a team that gave me a safe place to be myself and express my emotions and my passions through the art of Dance. It gave me my closest friends @slayquan__ and @janel989, and presented me with trials and tribulations that challenged my creativity, my leadership skills and my loyalty. As Eboard in 2014 I strived to present new ideas and always try to set a standard for others to follow : go hard, have energy and personality, and if you mess up keep going. Despite differences, I always tried to remain positive. In 2015, I had other ambitions which required some time away from the team, but there was never a moment where dancing and UC was not on my mind. Dance carried me through extreme highs and extreme lows. I returned with the responsibility of being President (2015-2016), despite being gone, the team still had faith in me. I cared for every member with a full heart: STUDY! family matters need to be taken care of! Your health should be tended to (Imani 🙄). As pres I’ve screamed, cried, argued but most of all I smiled and laughed. Having numerous performances and being able to perform at Knemesis’ Annual Show, we were proving that we had something to show the campus. We were growing and there was no way we were going unnoticed. I graduated a proud President, knowing that there was more to come from my team and I was leaving it in great hands. 2017, As a grad student, I cheered from the sidelines like a proud parent and saw the team grow right before my eyes. They won confidence and trophies all 2017 HANN!!! GLLTT!! Spring 2018 I dusted off that good ole shirt of mine (& paid dues 😒) and danced with the team for one last time. I competed at the Palace for the first time and placed bihhhhh! And now with graduation on the horizon it’s time to put up that shirt for good. — I couldn’t have asked for a better team to grow with and I’m beyond proud of all the things they’ve accomplished.
