"Once I'm dead, I won't even be able to remember you. So I'll win, no matter what. I'll live, no matter what!"

Tried to capture that quiet, heavy look in her eyes,
the expression of someone who carried the weight of the entire world's fate on her shoulders, and still had to make the hardest choice in history.

AOT fans, do you think Mikasa deserved a different ending?

Be honest: If someone sacrificed himself to save you, would you call him a hero… or wonder why he didn’t save himself too?

Would your answer change if it happened in real life instead of a movie? 👀

• Nawwas ibn Sam'an (رضي الله عنه) reported:

I asked Allah’s Messenger ﷺ about virtue and sin. He said:

الْبِرُّ حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ، وَالإِثْمُ مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِكَ وَكَرِهْتَ أَنْ يَطَّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ النَّاسُ

“Virtue is a good character, and sin is what troubles your heart and you would dislike that people should come to know of.”

Sahih Muslim 2553a

• Wabisah bin Ma'bad (رضي الله عنه) reported:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Consult your heart. Righteousness is that about which the soul feels at ease and the heart feels tranquil. And wrongdoing is that which wavers in the soul and causes uneasiness in the breast, even though people have repeatedly given their legal opinion [in its favour].”

Reported by Ahmad and al-Darimi; cited in An-Nawawi’s Forty Hadith, Hadith 27.

• Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (رضي الله عنهما) said:

“I remember that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

دَعْ مَا يَرِيبُكَ إِلَى مَا لاَ يَرِيبُكَ، فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ طُمَأْنِينَةٌ وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ رِيبَةٌ

‘Leave what makes you in doubt for what does not make you in doubt. The truth brings tranquility while falsehood sows doubt.’

Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 2518

Maybe we don’t write to remember or forget.

Maybe we just write because some things refuse to become nothing
even when we are trying to let them go.
