Happy Friday fellow art lovers ✨

We're happy to introduce you to today's Friday Feature artist, Rachel James Carrière
(@sleepyslothmachine @pocketmymind). Rachel is a painter, illustrator, tattoo artist, filmmaker, and in their final year as a Film Animation major.

"Rachel James Carrière (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist who grew up in farmlands outside a little town, surrounded by glorious apple trees and cornfields. This upbringing has heavily shaped their creative roots and connection to the living world, influencing their artistic practice. They aim to continue exploring creatively, foster community, and better understand their neurodivergent mind. Through their paintings, public art, and animation, Rachel strives to continue sharing their fascination with interconnectedness and play.
Their artistic process is inspired by lucid dreams and daydreams, and how they interact with physical reality. It is a perpetual process of gathering, documenting, reflecting, learning, and creating. Rachel's art reflects their inner world, hoping to evoke curiosity and invite viewers to look into their imagination land. The themes explored in their practice include dreams, memory, storytelling, environment, identity, and how they impact each other. Their artistic practice serves as a way to process their existence and understanding of both their mind and the world. It is how they materialize the intangible."
