Rather an unusual 'Memorable Print' today!

One of our newest members, Dan Cole (@sliceoflino), explains more:

"A dirty pub toilet is always memorable right?

This one, lovingly named 'Absolute Pisstake', is also memorable for the mixture of techniques involved.

I spray painted splatters of gold and black spray paint to give a gritty background look.

Next I printed my sexy a4 Lino print onto my paper - which is actually lining paper! 😮

Finally I used glue and gold leaf (actually gold lol) to create my lovely urine puddle at the bottom.

Scroll to the end to see a little video of the urine shimmer. ☀️"

If your interest is piqued you will be able to find Dan in the Chapel at our Annual Print Fair next month.

Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September

About Slice of Lino…

Self-taught York based linocut artist Dan blends the punk ethos with the mundanity of British life.

Influenced by a DIY spirit and early internet humour, his work embraces imperfection and rawness over polish. By turning digital thoughts into physical prints, he channels frustration, nostalgia, and stupidity into the messy beauty of it all.

There's a new exhibition to see @no.2blossomstreet. Twenty five members of @yorkprintmakers are showing framed and unframed work until the end of June.

Tue - Sat 10am-5pm
Sun 10.30am-3pm

As well as three walls of printmaking there are loads of other beautiful things to see in this lovely gallery and shop, where you will be warmly welcomed by owner Jenny.

Thank you to @carrielyallprintmaker and @sliceoflino who created the video parts of this reel.

We celebrated 10 years of @yorkprintmakers last night 🥳 what an amazing group to be part of! Everyone is so encouraging, generous, creative and fun 😆

Speaking of which, we all had a lot of fun making party hats from old prints and paper. Which is your favourite? Personally I love Emily's @thecuriousprintmaker with the feathers and ruffle trim! .

I’m absolutely over the moon to be in a Sonic the Hedgehog Art Exhibition at @flamingosleeds with @pyramid_arts !! Tonight was the artist viewing and it was so lovely. I’ve not been in an art exhibition for a good while and it was fab to meet everyone there.

Sonic was a significant inspiration for me when I first started to draw and a big reason why I still do art now as an adult. I think young Soph would be over the moon if I told her that our sonic art was in an exhibition! So I’m extra happy about it 😊💕
