Acting isn’t lying, it’s telling the deepest truth of self. What happens when risk looking bad? Looking stupid, looking crazy or worse, boring 😱 I’ll tell you what happens. The beauty of your humanity comes to life and there’s freedom in your acting and instincts come to life. #toronto #actors #actorslife #actorsaccess #actorsofinstagram #actorstudio #meisner #meisnertechnique #actingskills #actingstudio #actingcoach #headshots #auditions #selftape #workingactor #methodacting #toronto #torontolife #theatreto #thesix #torontoevents #igniteyourinstincts #robynkaystudio

You don’t get paid for trying!! (That doesn’t mean don’t try!!) but it does mean be bold, go with determination in the direction of your intended outcome, deal with the reality in front of you, take what you are actually getting instead how you wish it was, hug like you mean it, invest yourself in people and a goal and your dreams and yourself and be willing to fail publicly and make mistakes and fumble through. “Trying” relieves you of risk to your ego, determined action and serious effort in attempting and failing is painful and teaches you and brings you new opportunities, that same effort with victory is what will offer you rewards beyond your wildest dreams, that look in your eye that says, “nobody can mess with you” the greatest love of all. It’s vulnerable and it’s the purpose of life. #actors #actorslife #actorsaccess #actorsofinstagram #actorstudio #meisner #meisnertechnique #actingskills #actingstudio #actingcoach #headshots #auditions #selftape #workingactor #methodacting #toronto #torontolife #theatreto #thesix #torontoevents #igniteyourinstincts #robynkaystudio

Deep connection takes a lot more than birthdays in common, astrological signs lining up and sharing the same taste in music. True empathy for another human being comes from really listening, getting your attention of yourself and being willing to allow another human being to affect you. These actions must become a practice, as an actor and artist. Finding your strength in vulnerability while finding space to express your own point of view. It is not the norm in our western society but it must be the way your instrument begins to play. There are a lot of notes in there that require your attention and action. Let’s get to class for a workout and build those muscles, your craft and perhaps humanity will thank you for it. Meisner based acting happens tonight 5-8 pm $20 all are welcome #actors #actorslife #actorsaccess #actorsofinstagram #actorstudio #meisner #meisnertechnique #actingskills #actingstudio #actingcoach #headshots #auditions #selftape #workingactor #methodacting #toronto #torontolife #theatreto #thesix #torontoevents #igniteyourinstincts #robynkaystudio

What a magical night in my favourite place in the world. Grateful to all my heroes who came out today to be seen, to find strength in vulnerability and to grow into that human being they have the potential to become. What a joy to teach actors who really want to dig deep and do the hard work. We all won! Meisner class is not for the faint of heart, it takes a lot of courage, a ton of sweat and a massive amount of heart. So congratulations to all my actors who really get it. I’m forever indebted to you ❤️😘💗💕#actors #actorslife #actorsaccess #actorsofinstagram #actorstudio #meisner #meisnertechnique #actingskills #actingstudio #actingcoach #headshots #auditions #selftape #workingactor #methodacting #toronto #torontolife #theatreto #thesix #torontoevents #igniteyourinstincts #robynkaystudio

Some intense showdowns in the forum on the stage last night! So grateful to my students who come out consistently to do the hard work and fight to give a voice to the very deepest truth of self. It takes an unbelievable amount of energy to outrun your thoughts and doubts in order to support the instincts in you that are ready to come out and play. Those things in you that you consciously and deliverance hid away for so long so that you could have the certainty you would be loved and accepted. Are you ready to be truly seen? To show humanity to itself? As an actor and an artist, this is your gift. #actors #actorslife #actorsaccess #actorsofinstagram #actorstudio #meisner #meisnertechnique #actingskills #actingstudio #actingcoach #headshots #auditions #selftape #workingactor #methodacting #toronto #torontolife #theatreto #thesix #torontoevents #igniteyourinstincts #robynkaystudio

Great acting moments take faith. Much like falling in love you must lean on someone or something beyond yourself to get your attention off yourself. When you can completely leave yourself alone and allow your true nature to be seen, that’s when you become compelling to watch. So with all the acting skills in your tool box- how strong is your faith? How much trust do you put in your scene partner? Can you be trusted to show up when it’s difficult and not run from what is uncomfortable, having faith that life is always happening for you and the universe will always have your back even when it feels painful? Faith is a muscle. Just like listening, just like focus. These muscle must be strengthened, must be worked.
