Is Sloe Lane the most dog-friendly bakery in Edinburgh?

We certainly think so!

It’s not the biggest space there is, so some of you may wonder why I think so - but I feel like whatever it lacks in space it makes up for ten fold in being the most welcoming place to bring your dog and grab a tasty pastry treat.

The minute you walk in ALL of the staff are usually clambering to offer treats, usually (often) before taking your order. If you are a regular there is a 100% chance they will know your dogs name and which treats they like best (they have options) and if it’s your first time too they probably won’t forget the next time you visit especially with their gorgeous pet wall they have. There is always a filled bowl inside for a mid walk drink too and the benches outside are such a lovely spot to sit at on a sunny day. Sloe Lane is perfectly situated in-between Leith Links and Pilrig Park which also makes it a great stop if you are out walking or exploring Leith Walk. What really makes me love coming here though is all of the welcoming staff, they’re genuinely so happy to see you and your pets and it really has such a lovely community vibe inside which is rare these days. AND if that wasn’t enough, the coffee and pastries are my favourite in the city - they do all kinds of special drinks throughout the year and there is always different and new pastries to try every week and the bread is also to DIE for. Easily accessible by Tram/Bus and walking from the city centre too, it’s definitely worth the trip to the foot of the walk to try it.

I just love coming here with the boys, they’ve always been so supportive of Wee Pal too from the start so I’m very very happy to be able to highlight them on here and shout about how great they are.

A Saturday in Edinburgh 🌞

Started with @skincupid.official pop up event which was so cute!

@findingthefeed @topscottishscran and I headed to @storcoffee.co after the event and really enjoyed, such a cute spot ☕️

I then went to meet my family at @continibites for some brunch [ad - invite]

My fam and I walked down Leith Walk and had another coffee from @sloelanebakery 🤎

Then met my gal @hollyy_constant for wine and food and we headed to @haze.shore @chezbernardleith @bacaro42_ 🍷

A perfect Saturday 🤍

@companybakery found in Musselburgh has a seasonally changing baked selection and their bread is 10/10

@dunebakery based in South Queensferry and has some of the most delicious pastries I’ve ever tried. Pleaseee get the cinnamon bun

@jeanniesbakeryedinburgh based in the Haymarket direction in Edinburgh is a local independent business and their buns are yummmy

@bostockbakery in North Berwick or East Linton is delicious and if they ever have their pistachio and raspberry cruffin buy 5.

@numbertenbakery in Gullane is a local independent business and again the cruffins are delicious and change seasonally!

@lannanbakery is one of Edinburgh’s most spoken about bakeries and do yourself a favour and just pre order online for pick up

@sloelanebakery is a gem based in Leith and their baguettes and earl grey morning bun are my fave

@aranbakery is a must stop in Dunkeld and their danish’s are some of the best!

We’re back with another neighbourhood guide! And this time it’s my personal favourite and home turf…Leith.

Made famous most recently by Trainspotting & The Proclaimers, Leith was once a separate town which merged with Edinburgh in 1920. It still has an independent spirit, strong sense of community and plenty of character.
