WEDNESDAY // 8•12•26 @theowlchicago PROBLEMS is the one person band from Darren Keen who has been doing solo computer music since 2003. He makes weird, fun, beautiful dance Punk music that has a live band feel with super hard, loud, dance music kick drums. Keen has played with Peaches, Dan Deacon, Lightning Bolt, Getdown Services, Sleaford Mods, and many others in 400 shows in 4 years all over the world! Darren is kind of annoying at first but most good things are. (8:00)

WEDNESDAY // 7•22•26 @theowlchicago Sick Day is a Chicago-based Indie outsider Rock band with a homemade sound and raw/honest energy. Leor Galil of the Reader wrote they "evoke the scruffy homemade eccentricity of many of the great 80s K Records acts" and are "one of the city’s next great emerging indie acts." @sickday_music released their 'Overexposure' EP with Brooklyn-based Substitute Scene Records in 2024, and their debut full-band album is currently in the works. WEDNESDAY // 7•22•26 @theowlchicago Ishmael Ali is a dynamic cellist, guitarist, improviser, and composer based out of Chicago. Informed by diverse influences, Ali's work centers on exploring sound through improvisation, experimentation, composition, and collaboration, focusing on a wide array of idiomatic approaches in an ever-changing, always-growing list of projects. His 2026 release 'Burn the Plastic, Sell the Copper' featured an expansive exploration of improvisation, electronics, and song. Across ten tracks, Ali moves seamlessly between raw solo cello, oblique beats, intimate duos, and multi-generational ensemble interplay, producing a record that is both daring and deeply personal. The ensemble included frequent collaborators and stalwarts of the Chicago music community. (8:00)

MONDAY // 3•30•26 @cafe_mustache Matteo Liberatore’s project, Molto Ohm, is a sonic and visual exploration of the fragmentation and alienation of modern life. Through a juxtaposition of dance beats, seductive voices, synthetic melodies, and environmental sounds, the music captures the tension between the magnetic pull of consumerism, commodification, anxiety, and affect regulation; and our profound yearning for calm, joy, and human connection. Equally at home in smoky late-night venues as well as museums and galleries, Molto Ohm’s live performance consists of improvised sound collages made using 4 DJ decks played simultaneously. The music is fragmented, layered, and recombined, blurring the lines between club music and sound art. Molto Ohm integrates a screen projection that expands on the ideas expressed in the music, immersing audiences in a world of screen recordings, 360-degree footage, iPhone footage, and stock imagery that recontextualize the detachment and digitization of the online experience. Since its debut in 2023, Molto Ohm has released its first album FEED, performed live, received grants and commissions from organizations such as Foundation For Contemporary Arts, Composers Now and Metropolis Ensemble, and collaborated with artists including Ka Baird, Taja Cheek (L’Rain), Lester St. Louis (HxH), more eaze, Alyse Lamb (Parlor Walls), Brian Wenner, and more.
