Most golfers only train their dominant side. @matteo.manassero doesn’t. Here he is using Speed Sticks Pro on both his dominant AND non-dominant side at the BMW PGA Championship last week with @sm_performance_trainer Why? Because training speed from the opposite side can do much more than just make you better at swinging left-handed. Non-dominant speed training can help golfers: • Improve clubhead speed - research found a 6.4 mph average increase in dominant-side clubhead speed after 6 weeks of non-dominant-only speed training. • Train your braking forces - the non-dominant swing challenges the body to develop the ability to load, shift and “brake” through the opposite leg. • Develop faster force production - high-speed eccentric training can help train the body to produce and control force quickly. • Improve rotational balance - golf is a rotational sport, but most golfers only train rotation in one direction. • Challenge the brain in a different way - changing the direction of a complex movement creates a different neurological stimulus that can support motor learning. • Reduce the gap between your two sides - you don’t need to swing equally fast from both sides, but developing more balanced rotational ability can improve overall movement. Great to meet up with Sergio @sm_performance_trainer and former winner 🏆 of @bmwpga Matteo @matteo.manassero at Wentworth. Sergio has been doing great things in Italy 🇮🇹 with his Stable of Golfers and it is nice to be able to provide the @superspeedgolf equipment support to him for his golfers to maximise their on course potential. Forza ⛳️

2028 Golden Bears! I am honored to continue my academic and athletic journey at the University of California Berkeley in 2028. Thank you @alainvergari_golfacademy , @sm_performance_trainer for the work we do together, for believing in me daily, and for guiding me always. To Coach Wilson and Coach Ireland, thank you for trusting in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. Couldn’t have made it here without mom and dad beside me every step of the way. A little more golden than I would’ve expected… trading the old view for the Bay…. 🐻🟡🔵

#sixseven

Can you pass the 10% test? 👀 One of the numbers we pay the closest attention to isn’t your fastest swing. It’s the difference between your dominant and non-dominant side speeds. Over years of testing golfers, we’ve consistently seen that many of the fastest players can swing their non-dominant side to within about 10% of their dominant side speed. When you train both sides, you’re challenging your brain to build more complete motor programs. Your nervous system learns to coordinate movement from both directions, improving sequencing, timing, and force production. This phenomenon, known as cross-education, allows training on one side of the body to improve performance on the other through neurological adaptations, not just muscular changes. A study by Suzuki et al. found that golfers with faster dominant-side swings also had significantly faster non-dominant-side swings. In other words, the better the golfer’s ability to produce speed on one side, the better they tended to produce speed on the other. The researchers concluded that improving non-dominant swing speed may help improve dominant-side performance while reducing movement asymmetries. Research from Dr. Tyler Standifird found that golfers who trained only their non-dominant side for six weeks increased their dominant-side clubhead speed by 6.4 mph. They also produced greater vertical, lateral, and braking ground reaction forces during the golf swing without ever training their dominant side. Think of your non-dominant swing as a window into your movement efficiency. A large gap often means your nervous system has room to become more coordinated, adaptable, and efficient. A smaller gap? That’s what we consistently see in golfers who sequence well, transfer force efficiently, and create elite clubhead speed. The goal isn’t perfect symmetry. But if your non-dominant speed is more than 10% behind your dominant side, you’ve probably uncovered one of your biggest opportunities to unlock more speed. So… can you pass the 10% test? 📽DP World Tour player @matteo.manassero training dominant and non dominant sides with SuperSpeed and med balls with trainer @sm_performance_trainer
