We enjoyed a wonderful start to the new season of @smaaaw4 's First Friday Lunchtime Recital series today with musician Anneke Brose. It was quite a technically demanding programme from Bach to Buxtehude, and everyone enjoyed the diverse sounds created. 6th November is the next Recital, so do save the date.

Are you (or someone you love) already mourning the end of cricket season? 🏏 Do not despair: we have the PERFECT event for you… 👀 Cricket historians, players and fans Richard Heller and Peter Oborne trace the origins and forces which have shaped the global game, for good or ill, in Full Circle: A History of Cricket. They discuss the most literary of games with Tim Beard, co-editor of Catching the Light: A New Anthology of Cricket Poetry, which raises CLR James’s famous question in its poems. Chaired by poet Rishi Dastidar. 🎤 Cricket: History, Politics and Poetry 📍Theatre at the Tabard 🗓️ Sat 12 Sep 2026 ⏰ 10:30AM 🎟️ £10 REPOST @livstylelifestyle There’s something about cricket in September that just feels different 🍂 All summer it feels never-ending. Another Saturday, another game, another full day at the ground. You complain about the weather, the long days, the late finishes, the fact your entire weekend somehow revolves around cricket. And then September arrives. The big coat is back. The umbrella is next to you on the boundary. The glass of wine has become a cup of tea. The light starts going earlier, and you start checking how many games are actually left. And suddenly, after spending months feeling like cricket season would never end, you start noticing every last little bit of it. The feeling of knowing you can turn up at any point in the day and there’ll always be someone you know there. The familiar faces you’ve seen every Saturday for months, that you suddenly realise you might not see again until April. Knowing that if you’ve got nothing else on, you can just go down to the ground. The sound of the game happening in the background while you’re chatting and barely even watching. The little routines you didn’t even notice until they’re nearly gone. And suddenly you realise this whole little world you’ve been living in every weekend is about to disappear for six months. It’s such a strange feeling.. being completely ready for a break, while also knowing you’re going to miss it when it’s gone 🫶🏼 I didn’t really know how to describe this feeling, but hopefully this does ❤️ Does anyone else feel like this/know exactly what I mean?

👀 Tickets still available 👀 Adele Parks has written 25 best-selling novels in 25 years, translated into 31 languages. Reflecting on her remarkable career, she talks to Jacks Thomas about creating tales of dysfunctional families, intrigue and secrets, such as those in her recent psychological thriller Our Beautiful Mess and latest crime novel, Eyes On You. 🎤 Adele Parks: Secrets & Lies 📍St Michael & All Angels Parish Hall 🗓️ Sat 12 Sep 2026 ⏰ 6:30PM 🎟️ £10 #chiswickbookfestival REPOST: @adele_parks Goodness, this woman is a joy!! I was lucky enough to be invited onto @gabyroslin new show Make A Difference. Always so much fun being with Gaby even when we are talking about scary psychological thrillers! I think we can agree I am a positive soul, and as such I’m often asked one of three questions about that. 1) Does being positive come naturally? Answer: It does now as I have trained myself to be positive. I’ve learned it helps, heals and offers opportunities. Looking on the bright side, finding the silver linings or just giving it another go, is how I’ve managed all life’s set backs even when I’ve really wanted to cry or sulk or give up! 2)How does someone who is upbeat write such deep, dark and twisted stuff? Answer: not sure, maybe this is where I pour all my inner frustration, anger, fear etc, so I can sort it out and find a reasonable outcome! 3) Are you secretly a psycho? Answer: No! But that’s what a psycho would say 😉 If you missed Gaby and I chatting, do try to listen on catchup. #radio #positive #authorlife thriller
