@smallcarperformance we are hosting an awesome event October 16 and 17th. Items are being added daily from our stash of new and used parts. I spotted a road shower Yakima crossbars new in box and other really cool goodies.

I’m also not ashamed to admit that these AI images are awesome. Haters can hate, but if you want me designing products I’m not paying for a graphic designer.

Trying to get back into the grind! 3 days of preparation, one day of party, and now it’s time to set everything back up to function as a shop! A lot of work goes into an event like this.

A wild weekend with a whole pile of incredible humans. Thank you to everyone who came out to join the festivities! Huge shout out to the Toaster crew for helping with operations and making this thing go off without a hitch!

Fun side-quest job; full mechanical overhaul and @smallcarperformance drive by wire Subaru 2.5 install. This Syncro threw a few curve balls at me like needing both trailing arms replaced, as well as an engine moustache bar. Not a big deal when you have the parts on hand. She stops on a dime now with new calipers and discs front and rear, and the Bosche iBooster to top it all off. #syncro

Bruces 1985 Westfalia. No expense spared Syncro conversion and full restoration.

After parting ways with another shop, my client was left with his 86 Syncro Westfalia in a condition that was beyond repair. One trashed syncro, a mint 2WD chassis, and hundreds of hours later; I had the privilege of handing his keys back and watching him drive off. And damn did it ever look good driving off into the distance.

@mansispeed engine management, @scheelmannusa vario seats, @wilwooddiscbrakes front and rear from @smallcarperformance, full suspension overhaul from @t3technique, and a bunch of NOS goodies sourced from my good friend @vanucampers. All parts blasted, painted or replated. Too many other details to list honestly!

These two Syncros best represent the past +2 years of work for me in the shop. It’s difficult to put into words how much work went into these vans; the mind boggling amount of planning, non stop >60 hour work weeks, and endless details to remember and execute.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity - and more importantly the trust - these guys gave me, building their forever vans. The scale of each project is way too big for just one post so I’ll follow up with more later. For now I just want to say thank you to Jake and Bruce for being all-star clients that could not have been easier to collaborate with. Thank you to my extremely supportive wife and baby boy for putting up with daddy’s bonkers work schedule and obsessive drive. And a big thanks to everyone who’s helped along the way, been following along, and supporting my business. It’s not possible without all of you #vanagonlife

It’s not all fun and games... wait, yes it is!

Smashed the oil pan on a rock deep in the woods with no cell service. Bush mechanic mode engaged: plugged a hole and the drain plug threads using rubber tire repair strips, babied it to town for oil and JB Weld, and drove 1.5 hours home without losing too much oil.
Stoked to upgrade to the new Smallcar shortened oil pan to have some more clearance and to not run into this again!
