Here is my letter to the CEO’s and Executives of Facebook & Instagram: This is an incredibly serious issue. These fake accounts don’t just pop up out of nowhere. They are created by people. These people ARE CRIMINALS. EXTORTIONISTS. They seek to FINANCIALLY HARM GOOD PEOPLE by using MY HARD-EARNED LIKENESS AND BRAND. I understand stopping the accounts themselves is near impossible. But if I was to be verified, my followers would IMMEDIATELY know they are talking to the real me. Otherwise, there are a few things that could happen. 1. They get scammed 2. They get scammed and don’t tell anyone because they are embarrassed (This happens a lot) 3. They don’t respond to the person which is good, but think it’s actually me and my reputation suffers unjustly. 4. They know it is not me, but get annoyed by the fact that 10 fake β€œme’s” are following them and messaging them weekly All circumstances are terrible and can easily be fixed with verification. All journalists get immediately verified. Which they should. But why? Well, because THEY ARE PUTTING OUT CONTENT TO THE MASSES AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO VERIFY THAT IT IS ACTUALLY THEM WHO IS CREATING THAT CONTENT. Yet, I have 100,000 followers on Instagram, and another 100,000 followers across other platforms. I reach 10 million people a month. I am in the financial space which makes me and fellow finance creators easy targets for these type of fake profile scams. I’ve been in Business Insider and on major Television networks in primetime. And nothing. I get rejected every time. And so do my fellow creators. Take my driver’s license. Get me on a Zoom. I will fly to NYC or LA or wherever. Do what you gotta do to make sure I am me. But for the safety of my followers, all on Instagram and the integrity of hard earned reputations and brands, we need to fix this together by verifying me and other large creators.
