It’s fascinating how while I’ve historically had a complicated love/hate relationship with the US, my feelings about New York have always been unambiguous. I ❤️‍🔥 it!!!

The moment I stepped foot in NY, just as the uber drove off, I realized I’d forgotten my phone in there. I ran after the car for a whole minute before giving up. It was okay, I had my laptop, I’d let my friends know and meet them in a bit and they could call the driver and let him know what happened and I was sure he’d find it & I’d be reunited with my phone.

As I was going back to the place where I’d meet my friends/where the driver dropped me off, I see it. A bus approaching, my phone on the ground. That’s when I hear it: krrek krrek cek cekk schrkkkk. I’d accidentally dropped my phone… IN THE BUS LANE!!! And it had been there for a whole minute. I started laughing. This was comical to me for some reason. I’m super careful with my phones generally, but I also remember the time my phone got stolen when I was a teen and when I got home, I told my parents in a funny voice “a man… with a suitcase… got my phone.“ This is an inside joke I don’t remember the origin of, but I do remember saying that & the absurdity of it & how my parents were like ??? Anyway I remain an @apple stan as my PHONE WORKED AFTER BEING RAN OVER BY ~3 BUSES. I actually wanted to keep using it at first, as a memento mori, yolo artifact, etc.

Every moment since then was great great great and I love that New York feels like home and the food the drinks the people the outfits the buildings the vibes and even the cheeky subway ads and no I do not resent @mta #accountability #vetekishafajin

New York’s oldest and most historic bar, est. 1762, @frauncestavern 🎹 Words on walls, on the ground, and on the air/on my Kindle app (📖: #InfinitePossibilities). The sun, the bridge, my red lips & my 8 piercings.

Not pictured: recurring Brussels sprouts (YES!), enough truffle to last me a lifetime (2 months), amazing bagels (something in the water), disgusting Nitro cold brew (it’s not me, it’s you).

🎶 They say it’s happy here, happiness is figurative, I’m happy cuz of me, doesn’t matter where I’m living 🎶

I like big buildings and I cannot lie 🎶 really enjoying this impromptu trip. Great food, great wine (pretty looking label too, which I love), great conversations, excellent company. Feeling like I couldn’t breathe because of the wind/weather (all good), disappearing buildings, lights, drinks, beautiful things 🧚‍♀️ I would like to manifest running into @charlotteparler, though… Thanks universe!
