Today I’m officially 5 YEARS SOBER!

I don’t talk much about my sobriety, but if my story can help someone else, it’s worth sharing.

I come from a long line of alcoholics and drug addicts. I always thought I could party harder than anyone without consequences. Boy, was I wrong.

New Year’s Eve in NYC (2010?) with my friend @kellyannbba At a Deadmau5 concert, I meet a beautiful Australian woman who introduced me to some white fluffy stuff. Holding out a key she said "put this in your nose". I thought she was an angel sent to be my everything.

Then she introduced me to her husband.

But who cares? I was on top of the world!

Flash forward to 2019. I couldn't drink without wanting the stuff. I thought I had control. I didn't.

Around this time, a life coaching program inspired me to stop talking about making movies and actually make them! I started @smashedpotatokids with my brother @wcodynelson and our friend @fillyz

I was making art instead of excuses. But the partying continued.

Even after becoming a Crazy8s finalist and making my first big film, I kept falling into old habits. I was disappointing people, even missing my own shoots.

I finally admitted I needed help.

I called my own intervention, told my loved ones everything, and my good friend @maxlloydjones took me to my first meeting.

Five years later, I'm happier, healthier, and incredibly grateful. Still a work in progress, but aren't we all?

And here's the full-circle moment.

This December, I'm returning to NYC. SOBER! With my sketch comedy crew, invited to collaborate with New York comedians. How cool is that?! And there's another thing that im not allowed to talk about yet, but trust me. It's huge!

Life is pretty amazing when you show up for it.

I'm a lucky guy, surrounded by incredible people who have supported me along the way.
