Winter squash brings so much flavor, texture, and versatility to your fall and winter cooking! Save this guide for your next trip to the farmers market or whenever you’re deciding which squash to roast, stuff, blend into soups, etc.

🥣 Best for soups & purées: Butternut and red kuri
🍽️ Best for stuffing: Acorn
🔥 Best for roasting: Delicata, honeynut, and kabocha
🍝 Best noodle alternative: Spaghetti squash

Quick tips for cooking with squash:
1) Give squash plenty of space on the pan so it roasts instead of steams
2) Roast before blending into soups for deeper flavor and a creamier texture
3) Save leftover squash for grain bowls, pasta, sauces, and baked goods
4) Don’t toss the seeds! Clean, season, and roast them for a crunchy snack

Be sure to grab some the next time you’re at @smfms and be sure to ask your farmers about their favorite way to prepare squash! #supportfarmers #shoplocal

Nature's candy just might be your dog's next obsession...

Like us, reaching for fresh fruits and veggies can be a healthy AND tasty option for high value treats and snacks for dogs, and they just might go nuts for them! Visit your local Farmer's Market, like @smfms, for a wide variety of locally sourced fresh fruits and veggies.

Safety is key. Stick to fruits and vegetables that are safe for dogs, like the apples, blueberries, blackberries, oranges, and carrots in this reel, and sweet potatoes. Avoid lemons, avocado, grapes, and raisins, to name a few. Not every fruit or vegetable at the market is safe for a dog, so check before you share a new one.

Consult with your veterinarian before adding any fruits and vegetables to your dog's diet. Dogs are carnivorous, and fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and must be served in moderation. Follow your vet's guidance on maintaining your dog's balanced diet, and on any food sensitivities or medical requirements your dog may have. These are treats and snacks. They do not replace that diet.

Does your dog already have a fruit or vegetable he loves?

This year’s spigarallo from @weiserfamilyfarms has arrived at @smfms ! 🌿

We’re turning this slightly bitter, leafy green into namul, dressed with our ssamjang, garlic, and plum syrup. A perfect balance of savory, garlicky, and a hint of natural sweetness!

The season is just getting started, so come enjoy the first taste of this new seasonal banchan at Perilla. 💚

Incredibly excited to be back in LA next week for the @rusticcanyon 20th Anniversary dinner series finale(s) on October 26 & 27. I’ll be cooking some of my favorite memories, Santa Monica-fying a certain dish from @the_catbirdseat, and collaborating with boss-man @eiaeeo and bestie @erikaachan on a few new bites.

Really looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. Several time slots still available via @resy
