POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🗺️ In 1940, Lithuania was annexed by the Soviet Union. It remained under Soviet control for the next few decades, and yet, a strong sense of national identity persisted. After all, the state of Lithuania had existed for several millennia before the Soviets got involved, with its heyday in the 15th century as the largest kingdom in Europe.

🇱🇹 As such, the then-called Soviet Lithuania couldn’t hold forever. Gradually, pockets of organised peaceful protest spread, notably through the defiant performance of banned Lithuanian folk songs, a movement wonderfully named ‘the singing revolution’. Lithuania became independent once more in 1980 and joined the European Union in 2004.

🎵 Anyway, all of this to say, Lithuania is both an old and new nation, and in turn, its musical identity is still evolving, which makes it an exciting place to find interesting new music.

✍️ WAT’s selection of new music from Lithuania is online now.

Today on Meta Moto Premieres we have a collaboration of two darkwave scene projects VEIVERIS and SMFORMA. “NUO TAVĘS PABĖGT” - explores a state of mind where obsession takes over and becomes impossible to ignore, a feeling of being so consumed by another person that you start dreaming of running away from them. It reflects on emotional attachment and the urge to escape the very thing that keeps pulling you back.
This release offers the first glimpse into a larger body of work, arriving at the end of September.

Produced and mixed: VEIVERIS & SMFORMA
Mastered: Rude 66
