I… fucking… did it!!! Extra miles paddling to safe entrance and exit points plus some portaging each day added to all the @garmin tracked paddle miles makes it just a hair under 290 total. We’re gonna round up! Taking the dangerous, treacherous way from north fork to south fork earned it. All of that over 11 days and I’m home safe and sound. Some people to mention that I didn’t talk about in the videos… My mom, brother, and sister in law giving me love and luck along the way and bringing my cute little nieces to celebrate the finish. Started the day feeling great after a good nights sleep at Hampton lifeguard @kiley.kaiser home. Thank you so much for the hospitality and Dave Riley for setting that up! While ocean conditions were clean, the current was once again going the other way. So once again freezing ocean temperatures numbed my arms and hands as I struggled for about 15 miles until I decided to catch what little was left of the incoming tide at the Moriches Inlet. That inlet is notorious for its tough conditions. It often beats most inexperienced boaters with a narrow channel, high rock walls, shoals all around, and a breaking wave on the outside. Made it to Smiths Point Beach in Shirley. I was able to store the boards with the lifeguards and talk to them for a bit. Saw a few paddling out to a large ocean sunfish at the surface. These often confuse and scare beach goers with its fin dancing at the surface, they appear to be large sharks. They are some of the largest fish in the ocean but they are just gentle giants.
