There is nothing more magical than watching the sunset. But where to go if you want to actually catch it around Hiri? Since Hiriketiya Bay faces southeast, you generally don't see the sun setting directly over the ocean from there. For a more open sunset view we got some recommendations for you. 🌅🫂

The Top 3 meals we had in Sri Lanka! Save or share this if you ever get a chance to visit the wonderful island! Please keep in mind we were only there for a week and only visited a sliver of what Sri Lanka has to offer so these are just the 3 best places we had the opportunity to dine at! The quality of food & service was exceptional! Really hope we can go back asap!!! 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka is making its mark on Asia’s cocktail map. 🌴🍸

From Smoke & Bitters, RAA to Ropewalk and Uncles, a new wave of bars is bringing together homegrown spirits, indigenous ingredients, bold flavours and world-class hospitality.

Why Best Bars Sri Lanka? To celebrate the people, places and creativity shaping the island’s evolving bar culture, and connect its vibrant community with the rest of the world.

The island’s cocktail story is just getting started. And it’s one worth raising a glass to. 🥂

Last Friday, our bartender Akshitha took over the bar at @smoke.bitters Hiriketiya as part of their Loves Local residency, bringing a little bit of Biling to the south.

A week of working together, exploring local ingredients, sharing ideas and learning from one another, all leading up to a guest shift featuring four drinks.

Local Lovi. Kiwi Mash. Lewariya. Banana Punch.

Four drinks built around local ingredients, a little creativity and Akshitha’s own point of view.

A big thank you to the Smoke & Bitters team for having us and for creating a space where bartenders can come together, experiment and learn from each other. 🫶🏾✨

This was my NYE ✨ woo

Benji, a motorbike, the South Coast of Sri Lanka and absolutely no idea where we’d end up — just the knowledge that we had to hug the coast baby 🌊

Weligama → Hiriketiya → Tangalle → back to Hiri for sunset, then homebound to Weligama.

Coastal roads, killer snacks, tangy juice, kind smiles, a blowhole detour, a near perfect sunset with perfectly balanced cocktails, and a sprinkle of magic along the way

The Western world has become so BEIGE. So SQUARE (and I don’t mean hip 😜). So uninspiring…

Then you come to Sri Lanka, where colour is just part of being alive. Graffiti, art, buses, boats, posters. Expression everywhere you look. (Although those AI posters are infiltrating life here too 😅)

Being surrounded by so much colour, creativity and unapologetic expression will always be good medicine.

One more trip around the sun. A full heart, a very sore bum, and a reminder to keep exploring, looking, feeling and appreciating.

A pretty bloody good way to send out another year on this wild planet 😜🥳
