📚ARC Review 📚 Release date 8th Sept 2026 Such an easy thriller read. My first read of Steph’s books and I’ll look forward to more! This was nice paced, with some good suspense. Waiting to see how Abby’s previous life will catch up with her, flashback chapters to the past and events leading up to present day. Definitely got that ‘checking over my shoulder’ feeling throughout! This was fully Abby’s POV but it is dual timeline of past and present so that was a great story builder. I liked seeing the friendship between Abby and Harry and how that changed as life progressed and they wanted different things! Medium paced, tense moments with some good twists and a fraught ending! Thank you Steph for the ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #bookstagram #arcreview #thrillerbooks #bookreview #thrillerreader

ARC Book Review 📚 From the very beginning, A Perfect Lie is a book full of twists and suspense 😱📖💥. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the story really kept me on the edge 😮‍💨🫣✨. The main character is full of secrets, lots of dark and crazy ideas 😳🖤🤯 but at the same time she would do anything to protect her family 👨‍👩‍👧❤️, including giving up old friendship 💔🤝. One of the questions I asked after reading the book is can a person really leave the past behind and start a new life 🌫️➡️🌅, or is the past going to hunt them? 👀🕸️ The chapters in the book are short and engaging ✨📚 with a lot of suspense 😬🔥 and many times I asked myself "did I just read that?" 🤯😳 If you like domestic thrillers that have dark, suspenseful, tense and twisted story 🖤🔪📖, this one is for you 💫. Thank you @smthomas_author for giving me the opportunity to be part of your ARC team 🙏🥰❤️📚✨. #bookreview #bookrecs #arcreview #indieauthors #thriller

. 📚A Perfect Lie ✍️ S.M. Thomas 🗓️ Pub Date: 8 Sep 2026 This is the second book I’ve read by this author, and it was absolutely fantastic; a complete page-turner with writing that kept me thoroughly engaged and a gripping plot. Abigail is a former fixer trying to live an ordinary life with her husband and children, but underneath the domestic routine she’s built for herself, that life turns out to be pretty bland. Everything changes when someone from her past shows up unannounced, and within moments her husband Owen is confronted with a side of her he never knew existed. What follows is Abigail trying to keep the lid on instincts she thought she’d buried, and it was fascinating watching her fight to hold onto her new identity as a suburban wife and mother when really, underneath it all, she’s a highly skilled assassin. There was so much tension that just kept building, with already strained relationships pushed to their limits, balanced nicely with some brilliant comedy and sharp dialogue that had me laughing out loud in places. The book also explored friendship and trust, through Abigail’s history with her old friend and colleague Harry, revealing how hurt she was when Abigail gave up that old life. The character development is superb, with Abigail’s complex persona handled brilliantly; she’s a great character, though not always likeable and definitely morally grey. There’s so much depth and background woven through the story, all of which comes together towards an explosive ending. I loved it! 5 ⭐️ Thanks to @smthomas_author for an ARC of this book.

4.5⭐️ Releasing September 8th This was my first ARC experience and I have to say I was delighted with how much I enjoyed this story. It was well written and I felt the FMC, Abigail, had incredible character development. The dual timeline added a lot to the story by providing it with more depth and background. I enjoyed the exploration of the partnership of marriage, motherhood, and how trauma from the past can follow into the future. I loved the shorter chapter length as this helped to keep me engaged and made it a fast paced read. This style of writing reminded me a bit of Freida McFadden, which is a great thing because I am a huge fan! It had me absorbed until the very end and had twists and turns all along the way. I will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

4.5⭐️ From the very beginning, A Perfect Lie throws you straight into a “how did we get here?” scenario, immediately pulling you into Abigail’s story. We get to know her new life and how she has adjusted to everything after leaving behind the life she once had. Told through a back-and-forth between the past and present, we gradually learn more about Abigail, Owen and the other people surrounding them, slowly piecing together what has brought them to this point. I loved how fast-paced this was and how it constantly kept me wondering what would happen next, especially when it came to Owen and Abigail. As the story unfolded, I found myself questioning what could possibly happen next and where everything was heading. Even though I was able to work out the twist towards the end, it didn’t take away from the suspense or my enjoyment of the story. There was still plenty to keep me turning the pages, and I really enjoyed the journey of discovering how everything would come together. I’m so thankful I was given the opportunity to read and review A Perfect Lie. If you’re looking for a fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps you questioning what’s really going on, this is definitely one to add to your list! #bookstagram #booklover #suspenseseeker #arc
