What a journey it has been. I’ve been playing football since I was 5 and last year August 2025 the game I love so much was taken away from me. So many questions, so much overthinking, so much stress and the main question I would ask the Lord is why me. Out of all people why me what have I done to deserve this? Last year during the summer in June I started having heart problems and I didn’t get the help I needed to find out what was wrong with me. I was kicked to the curb with no guidance. Not a single person checked in to see if I was ok not a teammate, not a coach, not a staff member no one cared if Roq Montgomery was ok because I had already been written off. The ones closest to me were there through everything, and then I realized there was one person I needed the most and that was God🤲🏽. So many tears with multiple highs and lows I thought football was over for me but only one knew it wasn’t over. I had to realize instead of questioning God I should thank him. Life is too short to take things for granted and that’s exactly what I did I took a lot for granted and thought ball was over for me. I wanted to give up but I couldn’t knowing God is with me by my side through any and everything I endure he is my refuge and my safe haven when I think it’s not possible. Having him there for me shows me how possible things can be if you have the faith and courage to believe in him and his plan. 2 ablations and it neither were a success still questioning him as if he didn’t know the outcome. Finally a solution came I had heart surgery and had a pace maker put in to stabilize my heart rate from going too high so I could continue playing ball. Once I stopped being so negative about everything and looking at the bright side of things everything started to work out I got football back, I got another chance to showcase my talents and lastly I had not been given up on by the one who has seen it all and what I’ve been through. I held so much in not speaking up but now I am. I hope this touches those who have been in a similar situation as me and to know that giving up isn’t an option but finding the strength to keep fighting when all hope is lost. Thank You Lord🙌🏽

In 2003, I wasn’t supposed to be picked, but Joey believed in me.

Years later, alcohol took me down a road I never expected. I almost became the person people thought I would be.

Then I lost my brother, and I knew something had to change.

When Joey needed a kidney, I showed up for the brother who once believed in me.

That’s brotherhood. That’s What’s A Good Bruh.

I’m not trying to prove anybody wrong. I’m just trying to prove to myself that change is possible.

So don’t doubt the journey. You never know what somebody can become when they decide not to give up.

WE DON’T LET OUR BROTHERS FALL.
