More than honored to see my special article featured in Clara Indonesia @claraindonesia —a personal perspective on Salone del Mobile.Milano @isaloniofficial and Milan Design Week 2026.@fuorisalone

I looked beyond the exhibitions and collections to explore how Milan is transforming: from a city that hosts the world of design into a global creative forum, where design, art, fashion, architecture, automotive, and culture converge in an increasingly cross-disciplinary dialogue.

My personal perspective on why Milan matters—and why its influence continues to shape the future of design.

Who said museums had to be boxy?

Okay, we need to talk about those cones.

Set on Saadiyat Island, where land meets sea, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi rises through ten monumental cones, some reaching up to 88 metres. Inspired by Gulf architecture, the cones combine stainless steel mesh, onyx, and glass, creating a hard-to-miss silhouette while helping provide natural ventilation and shade. Inside, 30 galleries unfold around a central atrium, extending into terraces and outdoor spaces.

The art follows suit with a global perspective, spanning painting, sculpture, installation, photography, moving image, and new media. Rather than a straight timeline, the galleries explore connections through Abstractions, Popular Culture, Land, Language, and Storytelling.

As Dr. Mariët Westermann, Director and CEO of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, puts it, “The museum’s art collection is uniquely local and global, centered in the region but with works from all continents.”

The museum will join Saadiyat Cultural District alongside Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, and teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi.

And yes, it’s officially joining the Guggenheim constellation alongside New York, Venice, and Bilbao, bringing its own distinctly Abu Dhabi perspective to modern and contemporary art.

A museum? Yes. A landmark? Absolutely.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opens to the public on December 11, 2026.

Come for the art. Stay for the rabbit holes.

Art Jakarta 2026 is back at JIExpo Kemayoran for its 16th edition, bringing together 75 galleries from Indonesia and beyond, plus installations, special presentations, collaborations, and plenty of things to make you stop, stare, and look twice.

There’s a lot to discover—from emerging voices and unexpected perspectives to works that make you pause, wander, and maybe question what you’re actually looking at.

And that’s part of the fun. A good art fair isn’t just about what’s on the wall; it’s the ideas, encounters, discoveries, and little surprises along the way.

As Fair Director Tom Tandio puts it, “Art Jakarta continues to grow as an international art fair that connects Indonesia’s art scene and the international world. As we grow, so do the communities and elements that make up the art ecosystem around us.”

Sixteen editions in, there’s still plenty to see, discover, and get lost in.

Catch Art Jakarta 2026 from 2–4 October at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
