❤️ Little Hands, Big Hearts! ❤️

🌟 Celebrating 12 Years of GRIRR — 12 Years of Hope & Inclusion! 🌟

On GRIRR’s 12th Anniversary, our heartfelt thanks to Snigdha Shah Ma’am and Akash Agarwal Sir, whose little champions, Anika and Kaveer, gifted a bicycle and teaching-learning materials to our beneficiaries, Nawaz and Zoya. 🎁❤️

Their beautiful gesture brought immense happiness to Nawaz and Zoya and taught us a priceless lesson: good parenting is not just about raising successful children, but raising compassionate human beings. 🥹❤️

🙏 Dear parents, let us teach our children the joy of giving, sharing, and caring for others. We don’t have to wait until we grow up to make a difference — even little hearts can spread great happiness!

✨ Little hands. Big hearts. Beautiful values. A better tomorrow begins at home.

💙 Happy 12th Anniversary, GRIRR!

Kolkata’s only tufting experience 🧶

One afternoon. One tufting gun. One rug that’s entirely yours.

None of these makers had ever held a tufting gun before. A few hours, a lot of yarn fluff and plenty of laughs later, each of them had tufted a rug they designed themselves — pandas, watermelons, wavy abstracts, even a car on fire. 🔥

No experience needed. Pick your design, choose your colours, and we’ll guide you through every step, with everything included.

Perfect for a fun plan with friends, a date, a birthday, me time or a team outing in Kolkata.

📩 DM “RUG” to book your spot

Vaani.

What a beautiful word. And it’s a beautiful nonprofit. Working in the sector of the hearing impaired.

SVP joined up with them when they were a pokey little place in Tiljala, catering to the after-hour tuition and catching-up of the hearing impaired children already going to school.

You can imagine the trauma of such a child in a normal school. No sign language, no lip reading - only desperation.

And that’s the gap which Vaani fulfilled.

Now see what has happened in these four years. They have enabled a score of children to get through their class 10 boards admirably. And just the way the best businesses do, Vaani decided to grow along with its children. They are now working with the 11s and 12s.

And this is the inauguration of that beautiful lighted fun center. Eastern India’s first higher education academy for deaf and hard-of-hearing youth!

I was in tears to see the happiness and hope in the faces of all the kids. And the joy in all my friends in SVP, who have all worked hard to ensure that these dreams finally move towards dream-fulfilment.

So many hearts are full.

It was certainly because of my friend and SVP colleague, Snigdha Shah. For years now, she has been celebrating the birthdays of her children in nonprofits. Children with children.

So here’s the twist in my case.

For my birthday, my kiddoes took ME to a neighbourhood nonprofit Dakshini Prayas, which runs a school for economically challenged kids of the area.

And it probably turned out to be one of the best birthdays I have ever celebrated.

We played games, danced, sang, cut cake, ate noodles and brownies, and we made sure each one carried a goodie bag back home.

Dad just sat and let the joy flow all around him. Tanu was busy with the goodie bags, with a big wide smile. Devang couldn’t click fast enough (all the photos here are his!), and now Darshi wants to adopt one of the adorable girls in the school.

The cherubs wished me shyly as they made their way out. Starry-eyed, with bits of brownie hanging precariously on their chins, a happy ‘come again’ said softly.

Left us all a bit misty-eyed. As we realized, as always, that we were taking back much more than what we brought here.

There was no requirement of any other celebration.

I end with this gorgeous poem -

of course i have lines on my face
—————————————————-
life keeps folding me open,
like a map of all the women i’ve been.
some lines belong to grief,
some belong to the sun.
my face remembers—
i cried at my children’s first breath
and wept at my sister’s last.
i’ve stood in front of mirrors,
homesick for the old me,
as though becoming
were a wrinkle to be pressed away.
and yet—
crow’s feet roost
in the corners of my eyes.
i’ve been laughing my whole life.
look what joy has made of me.

Honoured to be invited as Guest of Honour at SVP India on International Women’s Day to speak on the philosophy of “Gain to Give.” A meaningful reminder that true leadership lies not just in achieving success, but in using it to uplift others and create lasting impact. We had a really engaging question- answer session and I was truly blessed to hand over the seed capital amount to some truly deserving women .
The 2 stalls exhibiting hand work by women led NGO’s deserve special mention.

🌟 A Day of Joy, Inclusion, and Cinema! 🌟

Children with disabilities from Garden Reach Institute for the Rehabilitation and Research (GRIRR) are filled with excitement as they prepare to watch Aamir Khan’s latest production tomorrow, 2nd July 2025, at INOX Cinemas, Quest Mall, 9:00 AM show.

This powerful and deeply moving film explores neurodiversity through the lens of resilience and highlights how structured training and the spirit of sports can empower neurodivergent young adults.

What once felt impossible has been made possible, thanks to the unwavering support of Mr. Sunil Bhandari, and the thoughtful planning by Mrs. Darshana Banthia.

The entire GRIRR team expresses heartfelt gratitude to the SVP India Kolkata Chapter for always supporting every small and big dream of our children. 🙏

On behalf of all our children and the entire GRIRR family — thank you, Mr. Sunil Bhandari sir and Mrs. Darshana Banthia ji, for this beautiful experience. 💫
