Bigfoot Bowl Bash from SB Journal…

A conch shell blasted from the Emerald Triangle announcing the first annual Big Foot Bowl Bash. It rippled out from the redwoods, through the fungal network of the soil and into the hearts and minds of the skateboard family. Wes Kremer, Eli Williams, Justin Strubing, Jason Jessee, Andy Roy, Jay Strickland, and Gerson Mosley amongst others heeded the call and made the pilgrimage up the Trinity River into winding roads, mirroring underground springs to the wild west town of Willow Creek, California.
Riley of Emerald Queen Farms led the charge for the town to finally get a properly poured concrete masterpiece for the vibrant local community of skateboarders. Stand out features include a bazooka street spine and a properly situated tranny hip.
The grand opening featured a competition for the Groms, Ladies, and Old Guys. Between heats Andy Roy mic “Checked!” Chanting down Babylon like a dancehall veteran alongside Screamo, Folk Funk Punk, and Roots Reggae bands filling the full cup of the mystic atmosphere. Coping was ground and plates were devoured.
The following day was spent appreciating the moment along the river. Sunshine and fresh air mingled with kaya, and water as turkey vultures glid by on Humboldt thermal currents. Justin Strubing did a flip off the rock into the clear deep pools.
The language of community, abundance, soil, concrete and skateboarding came together at The Bash seamlessly. From the times at the local DIY, to the Arcata Skate Park, to Ramp Art Park, to the mini ramp on the farm, Riley demonstrated grace, down home hospitality, always with bbq tongs or a slice of pizza in hand ready to nourish the crew in body, mind, and spirit. We are already looking forward to the next one.
