This yellowtail run in 2026 is pretty good. We haven't had this kind of opportunity on the beach with this kind of volume and quality in 11 years! I will say that 2015 bite on the 150 seemed like it was easier. Plenty of messages and posts lately of how much struggle there is with this current fishing landscape. The boat traffic, the bait or lack of, the stinking birds and sea lions and the @thequalifiedcaptain moments. This season has been great, but more challenging. That's ok with me. I enjoy this part of the experience.

Some days you can make flower arrangements with them in the @yeti bucket fairly easily. Others, we are working HARD for 1-4 opportunities. Details matter, mechanics matter, gear matters, execution matters, EVERYTHING matters. My freshwater anglers might recognize these details, because this is all the same process of piecing the puzzle. We just update the formula as the late Guru would say.

At the end of the day this is still @BigBassDreams or Big Yellowtail Dreams...

California sunshine and Yellowtail are abundant in our local water lately. Success however, isn't guaranteed as many of you are seeing. Lots of challenges including bait availability, boat pressure, and living up to the hype and expectations that come with an El Niño defined season.

Staying flexible and open minded has kept us busy with opportunities as things continue to shift daily, even hourly. These are some of the things we discuss in detail along with some sound theory and hypothesis. Testing them scientifically via the process of elimination is no different than when I traveled the country in search of hard to fool freshwater bass. It all translates. Details matter.

Everything has a reason, or at least it should. Like rage baiting with terms like #YellowtailTuna because the masses continue to disappoint me with their low level content appetite.

Yesterday went fishing with @mikemcgill @jaydenmcgill7 and @captainronnb aboard the @marisolsportfishing 55 miles south off the coast of Mexico at the Hidden Bank chasing blue fin tuna in the area. We spotted them and threw everything we had but the kitchen sink which probably would have worked best being they were so close to the boat and not biting. On the way home a small wager was presented as we were passing the Coronado islands, smallest fish buys dinner.. challenge was accepted by all. @jaydenmcgill7 answered first with a decent Red Snapper on an iron then I followed with a snagged little guy (it counts) then finally @mikemcgill was able to pull in a Calico while batting my phone into the bait tank while being heckled by @captainronnb and @jaydenmcgill7

FYI Mike’s a great multitasker when well rested 🤣

For me this is what fishing is about and I’m really going to enjoy this $800 group effort Red Snapper

and dinner was awesome, thank you @captainronnb

Triumph. You can say the 2025 Deep Jigging was exactly that! If you're a fan of these fish and a fan of big jigs then you should be as excited about the 2026 opener as we are! Lots of big rockfish and we broke the existing @theigfa All Tackle World Record Twice! I feel confident we can do it again as we have 7 other pending All Tackle WR's through our deep jigging sessions!

We've been having so much fun fishing saltwater bass lately that we haven't had time to even remember that the Season Opener is April 1st! We have some openrings for these specialized trips that have become our favorite trips to run! Lots of action, lots of BIG fish and all on artificial jigs from the best manufacturers!

We provide all the gear including the hot jigs as well as the technical instruction and attention that it takes to have this level of consistent success!
