✨How do you start your morning?

So, while you’re drinking your coffee this morning, ask yourself: What’s feeding your roots today?

For me, this season has been one of tending to my roots. ✨

Through loss, grief, new beginnings, entrepreneurship, nonprofit work, my career, and now pursuing my PhD, I’ve realized that if my roots aren’t healthy, nothing I build will last.🫢

So maybe this morning’s reminder is this: don’t rush to produce fruit before you’ve given yourself permission to grow deep roots.🌱✨

What’s one way you’re tending to your roots today?

This isn’t about having all of the answers. 👀

It’s about creating a space where we can slow down, think deeply, and stay rooted in what truly matters.

Welcome to Rooted Mornings with Roicia. I’m so glad you’re here!

✨ Women’s History Month Spotlight ✨

Next is Roicia Banks Hampton, MSW, MLS 🤍 @roicia @socialrootsfoundationnc

A social worker, advocate, and healing justice practitioner with 15+ years of experience, Roicia supports families and communities impacted by trauma and systemic harm. With dual master’s degrees in Social Work and Legal Studies, she bridges care and justice to create culturally grounded healing spaces especially for Black women, Indigenous women, and children.

Her work is rooted in relationship, advocacy, and collective healing, with a deep commitment to creating change that lasts for generations. And beyond all of her titles and impact, she is someone I personally hold close. I truly appreciate our conversations, my personal therapist in so many ways 🤍

Women like Roicia are doing the kind of work that not only changes lives, but heals them. ✨

We are allowed to feel everything and still choose to be gentle.

We are allowed to grieve and still experience joy.

We are allowed to protect our peace without explaining ourselves.

You are not alone in this. Never have been. Never will be.

There is healing in letting yourself be soft.

In doing things just because they bring you joy… like hanging Christmas lights.

In living in the free space your younger self needed but didn’t always have.

This is not regression.

This is reclamation.

✨ Healing doesn’t always look heavy.
Sometimes it looks like joy. ✨

Our annual SRF Party with a Purpose this weekend was nothing short of hilarious, heartwarming, and full of joy! 🤩

✨ From hot cocoa and gumbo to karaoke that absolutely did NOT disappoint, we had the best time with our community.

Thanks to the love of friends and family, we raised $620 in support of the Social Roots Foundation and our Ms. Attitude program!

We are so grateful for everyone who attended, donated, and supported from afar — your contributions truly matter.

Next year, we’re taking this to the MAX! Thank you for showing up for the mission and for the girls. ✨🙌🏾

✨ It’s Giving Tuesday! ✨

Today, we’re inviting our community to pour into the work of the Social Roots Foundation as we continue creating brave, healing-centered spaces for Black and Native girls and families.

Your support helps us grow:

🌱 Ms. Attitude Juniors – our newest program nurturing confidence, connection, and healthy attachment for girls ages 10–15 years old
🌱 SRF Scholarships – removing barriers so girls can access life-changing programs and opportunities

Every contribution—big or small—helps us continue planting seeds of healing, power, and possibility.

Donate directly to our campaign on www.socialrootsfoundation or click the link in the bio!
