Hunger Games Today, Hunger Games Tomorrow, Hunger Games Forever 🔥🏹

If you knew me in middle school (or really any time after), you know I LOVED the Hunger Games. This series has been a part of my life for at least 14 years, with the new @thehungergames film Sunrise On The Reaping coming out next month I had to share some highlights.

So many Halloweens, release parties (at the theater AND at home), trouncing through the woods in my neighborhood, and reading and re-reading this series. In my 6th grade English class we did a project on The Hunger Games in relation to propaganda, my group (surprisingly) had district 12 and we made a short film after we survived a coal mine explosion (? Details shakey) that video did not make the cut, but this series took over MANY projects. I also used to have a fan account on Instagram, long gone, with my first ever online friends 🍕🦆

The movies inspired me as a creative too, I went on to film school and always admired the world building of Suzanne Collins and the adaptations. There’s so much to say, I’d never stop talking. It was hard to narrow down my photos, even collaged to 20 slides. 😭

I love this series and fandom, I’m so grateful it’s continuing to make an impact. The @hungergamesbooks are written beautifully as warnings to society, Ms Suzanne writes when she has something to say and leaves no breadcrumbs (s/o Mellark family bakery).

And if you are reading SOTR for the first time or watching the movie next month, may the odds be ever in your favor. 🦩🐿️

Swam my way to a PR 🏊‍♀️ @armytenmiler #ATMAmbassador

Another race day down, this time it was extra special since it was my first race as an ambassador! This was such a special and unique experience, I am so grateful for the opportunity.

Today felt extremely full circle. The Army Ten-Miler last year was my first ever “big race” and kickstarted my adulthood running career and now it’s my first race as an ambassador!!! Last year, I ran the Army Ten-Miler with my amazing parents @stephsnow22 @realphilsnow , they are a huge reason of why I run and inspire me greatly. They were registered to run it with me this year but they moved and were unable to make it. It was emotional running the race course again, in DREADFUL conditions. I frequently laughed and smiled reminiscing on the race last year with them.

After the race last year, I was inspired and kept running. Shortly after, I founded @socialstridefxbg 🩵🏃‍♀️ This community has kept me MOVING the past year and motivated me time and time again. Another full circle moment for me was racing with multiple friends from run club on the course, seeing each other before the race and getting excited together was super sweet and fun!

The race was wet and cold (after not during). Thank you to everyone who still showed up, cheered, and celebrated runners today. It made such a difference running through the storm (literally a hurricane) still feeling the love and race day energy the Army Ten-Miler brings.

Post race, I barely have any photos. I gave this course my all, PRing my Ten Miles!! I was shivering and cold, some Army volunteers actually brought me to the fire med tent, who then let me warm up in the truck. They think I had mild hypothermia. Warming up was much needed and their kindness was GREATLY appreciated.

For now I will sleep, rest, and get back at it! T-1 month until my next race!!

Marine Corps Marathon is almost here 🏁

Race day gets the attention, but the work starts long before the start line.

Across the DMV, run clubs have spent months bringing people together, leading miles, building confidence and creating a sense of belonging along the way.

We’ve been fortunate to work alongside and support a number of these crews as they build toward marathon weekend, and we wanted to give them their flowers 💐

To the crew leads putting in the extra work, the runners chasing big goals and communities showing up for one another: we see you.

DMV, this one’s yours.
