Five days of learning by doing. 🏙️🛠️💚 During the Y-PLAN YouthCamp, Agioi Omologites became a living learning environment for 30 young people to explore how neighbourhoods work, and how they might work differently. Across the week, participants moved from observing and mapping the neighbourhood to identifying challenges, developing ideas, prototyping and eventually taking those ideas into the streets. They explored questions around accessibility, mobility, public space, neighbourhood identity, intergenerational connection and community life, not from a classroom, but by walking, listening, making, testing and engaging directly with the neighbourhood. The result? A collection of small, creative experiments that invited people to see familiar streets differently, and showed what can happen when young people are given the tools and space to actively shape the places around them. 📸 A few moments from the five days. Next up: meet the teams behind the interventions, hear the ideas in their own words, and find out what participants took away from the Y-PLAN experience. 👀 @erasmusplusyouthcy @idep_erasmusplus @socialtechlab @urbana_lab @opu_collective @mladiambasadorinis @toestand_vzw #yplan #youth #participation #urban #planning

30 young people. 5 days. One neighbourhood. And one question: what could our streets become? 👀 The Y-PLAN YouthCamp brought young people together in Agioi Omologites, Nicosia for five days of mapping, co-design, testing and hands-on street activations, exploring how they can play a more active role in shaping the places around them. Parking spaces became playgrounds. Streets became stages. Public space became something to question, test and reimagine together. More stories, activations and participant voices coming soon. 👀 @erasmusplusyouthcy @idep_erasmusplus @socialtechlab @urbana_lab @opu_collective @mladiambasadorinis, @toestand_vzw #yplan #youth #participation #urban #planning

What can happen when young people are given the space to explore, question and shape a neighbourhood? 🏙️ Last week, young people from Cyprus, Greece, Serbia and Belgium came together in Nicosia 🇨🇾 for the @y_planproject #YouthCamp. Over 5️⃣ days, the #AgioiOmologites neighbourhood became a place of learning-by-doing: walking, observing, discussing, questioning assumptions about cities, meeting local communities and co-creating ideas for public space. For #URBANA, one of the highlights was the exploratory walk, a method at the heart of our work. Across different cities and contexts, we use walks to slow down, observe our surroundings and bring different experiences of the city into conversation.🚶‍♀️In Nicosia, we explored the neighbourhood in four groups, bringing together women with different relationships to Agioi Omologites. We shared stories and observations and looked closely at questions of safety, and how women, femininities and queer people experience public space.💭 And then we moved from observation to ideas.💡The following days were about co-creating possible interventions for the neighbourhood and for the LAOU LAOU festival: from a temporary weaving activity inviting people to “weave their neighbourhood”, to activities with children, installations and other creative ways of activating public space. On the final day, the ideas met #LAOULAOU. 🎨 Now in its third year, the festival brings the neighbourhood together, with streets transformed into spaces for art, workshops, installations, screenings, bazaars and collective activity. Residents, local groups, organisations and volunteers all played a part. 💜 What stayed with us was not one single intervention, but the process itself: exploring, listening, reflecting, imagining, making, activating. 🌱 This is at the heart of #YPLAN: creating opportunities for young people to engage with real urban contexts and develop the tools and experience to take part in shaping the places they live. A big thank you to all participants & the @opu_collective team for creating such a meaningful space for learning, exchange and community participation.✨

Hey! We are the communication team from the Y-PLAN Youthcamp, and we made this video to show you a little bit of Agioi Omologites through our eyes. During these days, we walked around the neighbourhood, explored its streets and discovered some of the things that make it special. It’s a place where different people and generations come together, to walk, enjoy art, discover its architecture, or simply slow down for a while. This Sunday, our neighbourhood is celebrating! Come and join us at Laoou Laou Festival, as the streets of Agioi Omologites go car-free for a day and make space for ur to enjoy the city and slow down. We hope to see you there and celebrate together a different way of experiencing our neighbourhood! Agioi Omologites, Nicosia | Y-PLAN YouthCamp 2026 Laou Laou | Sunday, 20 September

🌱 What happens when youth innovation gets the right start? Recently recognised at the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026, @pit2table transforms discarded olive pits into sustainable design materials. Their journey began as one of @UNDP's Youth Innovation Factory winners, alongside @neemalabs, which transfoms prickly pear cactus trimmings into biodegradable alternatives to leather. While each team has followed its own path, they continue to build on a spirit of collaboration, combining expertise to strengthen their solutions and support one another's growth. A reminder that local ideas can go a long way when they are given the chance to grow. 🔗Read the full blog from the link in bio. https://www.undp.org/cyprus/blog/what-happens-when-innovation-gets-right-start
