🏆 HE'S A WINNER BABY! 🏆

Y'all ready for a big wet weepy post? 🥺 CAUSE HERE IT IS! (Not piss this time)

--------------------
Long story short, 9 months ago I took a step away from drag for health reasons. In my first year doing drag, I contracted COV1D 3 times (that I know of) and experienced new and worsening symptoms on top of my symptoms of multiple underlying chronic health conditions. Slowly since my break, I've helped other kings choreograph their numbers and have supported as a backup dancer but this was my first time performing my own number since last Halloween. And my god, I could not have wished for a better outcome, especially for a number largely based around a disability symptom💛

A huge thank you to the father figures, @rileypoppyseed @throb.zombie @kremeinakuchi - event manager, @axbrandy - and stage manager, @madisonzayne of @thrustfest⚡️

Thank you for creating the most incredible environment for kings to be together and witness the most unique art. Thank you for taking preventative measures by providing masks from @maskbloctoronto and HEPA filters from @safeaircollective 🌬

Thank you for making this a space where a chronically-ill king like me could truly thrive 🩷

Thank you to our wonderful host for the evening @pureivorydotca and the spectacularly talented kings on the judges panel: @buckwylde_dragking @hercusleaze @jarvis.hammer @dk_flare @thepreciousjulz @rileypoppyseed

LOVE LIVE THE DRAG KINGS 👑
(I have so many more thanks to give but Instascam only let's me write so much in a caption, so that is for ANOTHER POST✨️)

2025: Thank You for Being Here!!
It was a phenomenal year for Vanguardia Dance Projects - thanks to everyone who made this possible! Let's take a look at the year together.

This year was filled with connection, creation, and community. In March, we proudly world premiered Conversations: Hidden Stories with Aanmitaagzi, presented by MT Space in Kitchener—marking the culmination of 3 years of creation. We later remounted the work at the North Bay Fringe Festival.

In August, we presented Vanguardia Dance Festival: An Intergenerational Encounter in Toronto, featuring incredible emerging and established artists, workshops, artist talks, and dance film screenings.

The also had a dance retreat scape!

We’re thrilled that our dance film Cormorant won Best Dance Film at the Munich New Wave Short Film Festival! 🎬

We’re deeply grateful to our artists, collaborators, and community.

✨ Save the first week of February 2026… more to come!

With love,
Norma & Olga 💛

During my time @wuweicoffee

I entered with the intention of entering a fast paced environment,
to see the unique value of where doing takes you
and how others perceive “ Wu Wei “ .
What i’ve learned is when you have everything prepared and correct there is no doubt.

To learn humility for where you have set your own standards and capabilities upon yourself, after witnessing this you will truly learn where to value yourself.

This truly was one of the best experiences in having a stepping stone to where I must move forward.

Big thanks to the Owners
John Fernandez & Salima Mostafa
