We made it! 🎓🌟
After countless all-nighters, questionable snack choices, and emotional support group chats (plus my therapy dog 🐾), we finally crossed the finish line.
Thank you to all the professors, friends, and family who kept us going.

Super Congrats! to @sofatheecouch our
2024 Axel Lives Award Second Place Winner.

Sofia’s family background, and growing up in vibrant Hollywood, California profoundly shaped her personal story and challenges, creating a sense of perseverance and drive to overcome obstacles and led her to a creative path that made a major impact on our jurors.

In the jurors words “Sofia’s projects demonstrate how graphic design can be used to change the conversation around difficult topics. Her approach is bold and arresting, however it feels welcoming to all. We appreciate how she describes her willingness to tackle unconventional subject matter.

Aligned with Axel Lives, Sofia aims to challenge the status quo that represents the misfits and outcasts, providing a presence in an industry that often prioritizes clean-cut and safe aesthetics. “I aim to ensure that diverse voices are represented and that everyone, regardless off their background, can find affirmation and visibility in the creative realm”

Sofia feels this award is a significant milestone as a hispanic woman in a predominantly male industry. This also affirm her dedication to pushing creative boundaries but also inspire others to believe in their potential and pursue their ambitions with confidence.

As one of our New Axel Lives Award Winners we cannot wait to see what you do next. Surprise last pic of Sofia 👻

Term: 4️⃣✅

Theme: resilience.

Lesson: even when I didn’t believe in myself, others around me were there to support and encourage me to keep going. For that, I am eternally grateful.
