POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

S. Doheny has made her senior year count for Pittsburgh. In 7 matches and 401 minutes, she has scored 3 goals, one each in the wins over Cornell and Ohio and in the 2-1 loss to Virginia Tech. That works out to about 0.67 goals per 90 minutes, and she is finishing above expectation, with 3 goals from 2.48 xG. She is a lethal shooter when she gets her chances, putting & of her 16 shots on target (50%). Her role has grown as the season has gone on, from short cameos in the first two games to 82 minutes against Virginia Tech and 111 against Syracuse. Mostly a center forward, she has also covered left wing forward, right wing forward and both attacking midfield spots. Pittsburgh is 4W-1D-2L in her matches, scoring 10 and conceding 6.
Her work off the ball is what makes her more than just a goal scorer. She has 14 interceptions (about 3 per 90), including 10 in 64 minutes against Duke, which is a lot for a forward. Of her 19 recoveries, 13 came in the opponent’s half, so she presses high and wins the ball back close to goal. She is also an accurate passer, completing 77% of her passes against Syracuse and 76% against Virginia Tech, and she is a willing dribbler, with 6 successful in 12 attempts. With only 7 games played, there is room for her duel numbers and her crossing to grow. But for a senior leading the line, scoring in a good share of her matches and pressing hard, this has been a productive season, and there is more to come as her minutes keep building.
