How does art change the city❓

Last Thursday, we explored this question through the experiences and perspectives of artists, cultural producers, architects, urban planners, and people working with communities.

We believe that forums like Visionary Talks are essential for bringing people together across disciplines, exchanging ideas and experiences, and learning from one another. By sharing our perspectives and practices, we can inspire new ways of thinking about art, public space, and the cities we shape together.

A heartfelt thank you to our special guests and partners from Brazil and Bulgaria, to everyone who contributed to the discussions, and to all who joined us for this second edition of VISIONARY TALKS. ❤️

@alemdaruafestival @atomarketingcultural @sofia_graffiti_tour @bgs_varna_new @impactsofia @jungleofthefuture_festival @anto_ni_ @uaceg_communications

📸 Here are a few moments from the meetings, encounters, and conversations that made this edition special.

And the conversation doesn’t end here! 💬 Which topic from the forum would you like us to explore further in the next edition? Tell us in the comments!

The vocal workshop led by Jeny Petrova @petrova.jenq is for those who chose to express themselves also through their voice. It is happening in The Stage thanks to the partnership of @rockschoolbg and the support of @sofia.municipality. Find more details in the FB event. The participation is free!

Improvisation is a challenge for the vocal performer, which require a focused application of their skills and technique. There are various approaches to the holistic and comprehensive development of the performer, as well as approaches focused on musical formation and the merging of the “composer” and the “performer” roles. A positive attitude toward creative expression, combined with the further development of skills for perceiving and recreating musical phenomena — using a range of familiar and newly studied expressive means — facilitates “embodiment” and a merging with the sound environment.

Instructive segment:

- training in contemporary vocal practices covering the fundamentals of free and conducted improvisation, as well as the learning and the practice of specific elements and gestures associated with conducted improvisation.

Practical segment:

- body conditioning
- breathing exercises
- movement and voice
- larynx training
- combining techniques.

Performance segment:

- jam session (performance of participants).

Creative music-making – a systematic deepening of musical experiences; a system of forms and methods for developing the skills to navigate independently within the world of sound.

Sofia is taking the next step towards cleaner air and healthier residents 🇧🇬

As part of its first Clean Air Week, Mayor @vassilterziev shared @sofia.municipality's ambition to extend its seasonal transport Low Emission Zone (LEZ) to become year-round.

The city is already a lighthouse in Eastern Europe for its bold leadership introducing this transport LEZ and a domestic heating LEZ. And the city is putting its residents first to make the transition work for them - through phased roll-outs and helping tens of thousands of families replace their old furnaces with clean heating solutions. .

Extending the transport LEZ will help drive down pollution - further cleaning the air and improving residents’ health.

#BreatheCities is proud to take part in this week’s events and support the city in its growing ambition to deliver cleaner air for everyone. 💚

Why we do what we do. 🏙️

What if children could do more than learn about the world around them?

What if they could imagine how it could be better and take the first steps towards making it happen?

Through EdTech Innovators 2026: Virtual Sofia with a Real Future, we’re giving students the opportunity to explore their city, rethink public spaces and turn their ideas into virtual designs using Minecraft Education.

But this project is about more than building a virtual city. It’s about helping children develop the skills and confidence to ask questions, think critically, work together and see themselves as active participants in shaping the places where they live.

Because when children are given the tools and space to create, their ideas become more than possibilities. They become a starting point for change. 💡

EdTech Innovators 2026: Virtual Sofia with a Real Future is implemented by EdTech Bulgaria in partnership with OKI NODC Muzeiko, with the financial support of Sofia Municipality’s Europe Programme 2026.
