POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thank you all for joining us for The chord you don’t actually hear on 2 October!

We celebrated two new publications: The Miracle by Anthony Banks and On a Clear Day by Melvin Moti, with readings, music, and a conversation led by Harriet Foyster.

In 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 and 𝗢𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆, Melvin and Anthony share an attentiveness to simple actions – breathing, touching, and listening – which gain significance in the hyper-vigilant yet meditative subjectivity of the carer. Elements such as rhythm, silence, and interruption, emerging from practices of support and presence, are transposed to structural principles which shape their work. This event presented a moment for their works to stand in relation to each other, and for further harmonies to be heard.

It was a beautiful, intimate evening that quietly illuminated a role we all fulfil at some point in our lives: giving care, needing care, and the time spent with loved ones at crucial moments.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, and for the warmth that filled the room, in the words and in the music.

On 1 September, we gathered at @natlab.eindhoven to welcome our new BA and MA students, reunite with returning students, and kick off the year together. A big welcome to everyone joining us this year - and welcome back to those who already know the way 💫

Here’s a little look at how we kicked things off: everyone dispersed throughout the courtyard to enjoy refreshments served by BA alum Sterre Dingemanse @sterredingemanse in collaboration with Waterschap De Dommel, devour vegetarian BBQ sandwiches by student Ramses @ramses.ddd, and interact with the playful installation by BA alum Daisy Dawson @daisydawsondesign. Meanwhile, @elevator.radio DJs and alumni Zoé Bruhat @sexegambetta and Noa De Sousa Costa @__nobey provided the vibrant soundtrack to the afternoon. Lively conversations in small and large groups animated the patio until the golden hour ✨

2024 was a deep sleep of dreams: little birds, blinking machines, ears and mouths, seashells and naked beaches, leg kicks and rosemary.

And now that I woke up from it I remember these scattered images and put them together and think: ah yes that’s what happened. I wish this compendium was exhaustive as I would want it to be, but for now a glimpse is enough.

Happy to be here 💘
