Gracias universo. Gracias amor. Gracias empatía. Gracias amistad. Gracias equipo 🎬

3 years ago I materialized a script that I wrote more than 15 years ago. I never thought it would change my life, and those of many.

Not all the stories I write get to see the light. But when they do, it’s very emotional to see and feel what my words can build and transform in other souls.

Peccadillo will always be the most valuable love letter, written from the bottom of my heart

I will always be a safe place... a shield... and a hug of infinite love and acceptance. ✨🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I wanted to become a filmmaker ever since I realized I could write my own stories and create my own rules, or break them. @efflorescencefilm is one of those babies who steps outside the conventional frame or storyline, that will make you look and appreciate the aspects of filmmaking that you sometimes forget to pay attention to. Photos by Omar Solis @omar_fuzzy 🎬 All animals were treated with love and respect. @minidoxflan 🐶 Our dog who played “Taco” wasn’t eaten despite their delicious name, and out beautiful pig 🐷 is happily living with a family, as a loved pet. 🎬

Waking up to this message:
“I never know what to expect from you. Your last film Peccadillo made me cry like never before in a short, now with this film (Efflorescence) I laughed, felt uncomfortable, then excited, then just BOOM… what was that?! It was a fun and unexpected visual ride full or art. Thanks for stepping outside the conventional box”

Efflorescence is a film that bloomed its own way. Taking unexpected turns and making it an eclectic piece that blends numerous genres. I treat every project differently, as every “Child” comes with its personalized instruction manual. This one, had quite a unique one.
Putting together a team of artists in front and behind the camera to create this piece of art, was my most rewarding experience for this project. When we all step outside the box, unexpected things happen that are hard to explain, sometimes understand, but also impossible to ignore.

Just like me, my work is unapologetic…loud…unexpected…colorful…sometimes funny…sometimes deep…sometimes dark…sometimes heartfelt…sometimes floating in fantasy. I embrace my eclectic self, and the work I create, as I know that will never change.
One thing is for sure, you’ll never get bored, and I’ll always surprise you.

Thanks to everyone that came to watch EFFLORESCENCE last night, and approached me afterwards with smiles and motivating comments to keep doing what I do. Means a lot.

Thank you to all the cast and crew who came with me on this ride. You made this possible! Always grateful. Thanks to @latinofilminstitute_ for giving me this opportunity, @netflix for your support, and for opening your box by letting EFFLORESCENCE bloom in the Latino Community that is eager to see fresh narratives 🎬✨🌺
