When on our trip to the World Cup to watch Bosnia play, we stopped by what is the highest rated Bosnian food near LA. 🏆

This place is a gem! My girlfriend, who’s family is originally from Bosnia, and knows her authentic Bosnian food in and out, rated this place as the most authentic Bosnian food she’s ever tried here in the states and I’m taking her word for it. 🇧🇦😋

The Burek…

Don’t even get me started. My favorite Burek is still my girlfriend’s Mom’s homemade Burek but this one is the best that I have tried from a restaurant. The crunchy/flaky exterior and the pull apart texture on the interior of the filo dough is just top notch. The meat was seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper and the kajmak, as well as the ajvar, were extremely fresh and tasted homemade. 👌🏻

The Cevapi. 10/10. They tasted like a man named Amir, with his century old charcoal grill passed down from generation to generation was in a Sarajevo marketplace wearing his socks and sandals and whipped these bad boys up. 😎😂

Because the socks and sandals are the secret recipe… 😏😂

Same as the beef in the Burek, the Cevapi were well seasoned and extremely tender with just the right amount of fat. Eating them took my mind straight to a terrace in Mostar overlooking the Stări Most 😍

The next time you are in LA and want to try some authentic Bosnian/Balkan food, please pay @sofra_urbana a visit and let them know Yanis & Isa sent you!

Uzivaj!

As far as I could tell, I was probably the only Hong Kong mom in a restaurant full of Bosnian fans🤣🤣🤣

We learned about Bosnia in history class, but it felt completely different seeing the culture come alive through people, conversations, and food.

One of my favorite things about living in Southern California is how many cultures you can experience without ever getting on a plane!! The cevapi was so good!!

Last night I wanted to try something different, so I stopped by Sofra Urbana Grill cuz they have a fully halal menu 🍕🍔

Everything from the food to the service was a solid 10/10.

I ordered the pesto chicken pizza and it was amazing, but honestly what made it even better was knowing I could eat the whole menu cuz everything is halal.

They offer pizza, burgers, and traditional Bosnian dishes - all rooted in family, culture, and care. And the hospitality felt like being welcomed into someone’s home.
