Here are the baby essentials we actually use in our Nairobi home, from the things that survived baby #1 to the little things that make everyday life with baby #2 easier. 🤍
No fancy “must-have” list. Just real mom-approved essentials that actually get used!

And yes… that Fisher-Price play mat has officially raised TWO babies🥹

Second-time moms, what’s the one baby item you couldn’t live without? 👇

‎🩸 Menstruation should never keep a girl with a disability off the field or a classroom.
‎
‎ A girl with a disability should not have to choose between managing her period and participating in school.
‎
‎Kenya already has important commitments:
‎
‎📌 Basic Education (Amendment) Act, 2017– requires the Government to provide free, sufficient and quality sanitary towels to every girl child enrolled in a public basic education institution who has reached puberty.
‎
‎📌 Kenya Environmental Sanitation and Hygiene Policy 2016–2030 – provides for adequate water, sanitation, cleansing materials and private spaces to enable girls and women to manage menstruation hygienically, privately and with dignity.
‎
‎📌 Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025 – strengthens obligations around accessibility, reasonable accommodation, equal participation and access to services for persons with disabilities. It also recognizes the right of children with disabilities to equal access to play, recreation and sporting activities.
‎
‎📌 UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Articles 24 & 25– calls for inclusive education and access to gender-sensitive health services, including sexual and reproductive health, without discrimination on the basis of disability.
‎
‎📌 SDG 6.2– commits countries to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all, with particular attention to women, girls and people in vulnerable situations.
‎
‎The question is no longer whether menstrual health matters. The question is whether our implementation is reaching girls with disabilities.
‎
‎🏛️ To everyone, policymakers and duty bearers:
‎
‎Make menstrual hygiene programmes disability-inclusive, adequately funded and accountable.
‎No girl should miss the classroom, the football pitch or an opportunity to thrive because she cannot safely manage her period.
‎
‎Inclusion means removing every barrier to participation.

Menstrual dignity is not a privilege.it is a right.❤️
At Tamewa Foundation, we remain committed to supporting girls and women through menstrual health education, hygiene sensitization, and the distribution of sanitary pads to those who need them most.

Our pad drive is more than giving out sanitary products; it is about restoring dignity, keeping girls in school, building confidence, and creating communities where no girl has to miss an opportunity because of her period.

We are grateful to our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and every individual who continues to support this important cause. Together, we can make menstrual health a conversation, not a barrier.

Tamewa Foundation.empowering communities, one girl at a time. ❤️
