actually came here at the start of summer as I can’t resist a well decorated tea house. unfortunately there are about four seats so I wasn’t able to find a seat to sit but the space is really pretty. I think given the pricing I would really be coming down just to enjoy the ambiance, other than that I don’t think I could reasonably pay so much for tea? yes, I do think the tea is crisp and good quality but the question of coming back is quite hard to pinpoint. perhaps milk tea in my mind is a little bit different as it may require more milk and combinations for its pricing. my ancestors are probably rolling over in their grave right now though seeing how much I’m paying for drinks in general.

I think for the ambiance they are trying to create though a four seater seems a bit rough but given the rent of LES I’m not surprised. the desserts I had a traditional vibe and were pretty but I’m not sure if I’d come back just for them. the pebble had a hard exterior but reminded me of jellybeans? I think overall if you’re here to drink some tea and enjoy the ambiance during a slower weekday this place is for you.

Coffee can feel a little overrated, so here’s a spot that isn’t coffee. Soft Hours is a Chinese tea house on Hester Street in the Lower East Side of New York City, opened this year by artist Juno Shen. The whole space is inspired by the Song dynasty, and it’s proudly API and women owned. 🍵✨

Every tea is paired with a Chinese-inspired confection, and you can order your tea iced or hot. The vibe is peaceful and super chill, perfect for a warm day. Heads up: if there’s a long queue, there’s a max time at your table, but if not, you can stay as long as you like.
