« Childhood Memories » by Debora Amiliay

This project began with memories of my childhood. I remembered the moments that made those years feel alive: racing outside, getting messy and turning everyday moments into small adventures. Moments full of movement and imagination, the kind
we slowly stop allowing ourselves as we grow older.

Before working with the children, I planned a series of scenes inspired by these memories. Each image was carefully photographed in the studio with the models. Then the project opened up. Kids from Zeitkindschule were invited to collaborate by drawing directly into the photographs, adding the missing elements of each scene.

They were given direction, not correction. A bike, a house, a landscape. Within that frame, they were free. Proportions didn’t need to make sense. Lines didn’t need to be clean. Once something was drawn, it stayed.

Mixing my planned images with the children’s drawings changes the balance of the pictures. Suddenly the imperfect parts carry the most life.
Children create without fear. They don’t aim for perfect results, they aim to express. Their work reminds us that play is not something we lose, but something we forget to allow.

This project invites us to loosen control, stay curious, and embrace imperfection.
In the end, it is often the parts we thought didn’t fit, the
“imperfect” elements, that give a piece its energy and make it truly memorable.

„Reminders of the Princess“ 🎠
The piece revoloes around a longing I sometimes feel to return to the carefree lightness of childhood, when I would play princess in the castle gardens alongside my neighbour’s horses. Through this video, I attempted to revisit that place and those feelings, while also coming to terms with the fact that such a return may never be entirely possible.

A huuge thank you for the amazing help to:

Jenny (The most food-focused and cute Pony) & Jürg
And thank you for lending me your Closet @venuscyborg
