Meet Chris Cooke 🏊🏿‍♂️

We all carry fears born from different experiences — for Chris, his is open water. He's a strong pool swimmer, no problem going up and down. But something shifts when he's in open water, and that's exactly what he's working to overcome.

His goal? The London Classics — a three-part endurance challenge: a 100-mile bike ride, a marathon walk, and a 2-mile swim at the Serpentine. Chris has already conquered the bike and the walk. The swim is the final piece — and it's the one that takes the most courage.

That's what Black Tri Tribe is here for — not just training, but a community that makes the hard part feel possible.

What could an encouraging community help you overcome? 💛

This weekend I competed @nagafighter London and managed to bring home a gold in the nogi and a silver in the gi for my club @groundhammertc

Nogi was the best of 3 where @softsavage gave me 2 tough matches where I managed to get the W. Then the gi was round robin where I won the 1st match and then the second match I was up on points but my gas tank ran out and I couldn't keep the pace and lost the match on points. But overall happy with my performance, slowly getting there.

Also seeing THE GOAT🐐@thewizardofozbek in action was enjoyable to see. What made it was the @losbanditosclub competitors with the energy/vibe they brought to the event

I’m now solo as Jon has started off on a weeklong mountain bike trip, so I’ll have to do some strategic out and back sections of @hardrock100run course over the next several days to log my miles and vert for their Virtual Race.

My trail running partner in crime joins me for today’s out/back run from Telluride to Ophir.
Help me he will.

I've set myself the task to complete a vEverest this year. Ideally in the 1st 3rd of the year, but if it takes longer so be it. Today was day 1 of training. So only did 1 rep up the @GoZwift Alpe du Zwift. That took about 1 hour 16mins. Including the down hill afterwards it was about 1hour 30❗

Over the coming weeks the plan is to increase my reps by 1, until I get to 5 reps. If I can do 2 Sundays of 5 reps without injuries, I'll then attempt the 8-9-ish ascents soon after (after a taper of sorts) to reach the required 8848m for an official vEverest to count. That day will be about a 12-14 hour day, including rests, on the trainer. Maybe longer. 😱

Step 1 is to see how the training goes. Ultimately this challenge is to just help improve my cycling and my mental and physical endurance/toughness for the 2021 race season. You know what they say....If your goals don't scare you......😀

#tbt to last Sunday to watching La Vuelta and just when the main riders rode past me the TV channel switched to their helicopter view. For your convenience I've highlighted exactly where I was standing, under those trees😂😂
