POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

✨ We are thrilled to have launched The Círculo de Visionarios, a passionate community of friends, collaborators, and allies helping to shape and actualize the sustainable future of The Clemente. Last week, we hosted the first gathering in support of this initiative, highlighting projects with recent and upcoming Historias collaborators such as Cinthya Santos Briones, Sokio, Kinfolk, Lucia della Paolera and Seth Tillett, Domino Table Talks, and more.

You can join our movement by becoming a founding member of the Circulo de Visionarios, celebrating the next chapter of The Clemente as a nexus of Latinx culture and powering our work through critical stewardship, deepening the mission of Historias, and helping launch our Five-Year Vision featuring major city-wide projects focused on access.

See link in bio for more details 🔗

And stay tuned for an upcoming series of testimonials from our community recounting the impact The Clemente has on their lives and work!

Special thanks to all of our speakers, guests, and @teatrolatea for hosting us, featuring the beautiful exhibition by Máximo Rafael Colón on view in their theater.

THIS THURSDAY we are thrilled to invite you to the third evening of our Latine composers showcase ✨FUTUROS, New Ideas in Composition✨at the Lincoln Center Atrium!

This special series highlights some of New York’s most distinctive voices in contemporary music, bringing together the innovative, the experimental, and stretching the contours of classical music.

We are honored to present the acclaimed Ivalas String Quartet, currently in residency at The Juilliard School, who will perform a retrospective selection of pieces for strings by Angélica Negrón, a luminary among Puerto Rican composers. This performance is unique opportunity—it’s the first time an entire program will be dedicated to Negrón’s extraordinary body of work, featuring pieces that span over two decades of her career.

Angélica Negrón is a towering figure in the new music scene who has been commissioned by the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Kronos Quartet, Prototype Festival, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Sō Percussion, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the NY Philharmonic among many others. She is the recipient of many accolades, including the 2022 Hermitage Greenfield Prize and is currently a 2024 Collider Fellow at Lincoln Center.

Angélica has also nurtured the talents of many fellow artists and composers as an educator and collaborator, and has been an invaluable partner to New Latin Wave since our inception eight years ago, contributing as a composer, performer and curator. Her creative vision has continually expanded the boundaries of what new music can be, merging genres and creating soundscapes that redefine and deepen her remarkable musical expression. This evening’s program showcases the incredible breadth of her work and offers audiences an amazing journey through her artistic evolution.

Don’t miss La Cocina @lacocinamovie ), a gripping drama that dives deep into the heart of Manhattan’s fast-paced restaurant scene! Directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios (@aruipalacios ), this powerful film, starring Raúl Briones and Rooney Mara, brings to life the untold stories of the invisible workers who keep our kitchens running and will make you laugh, cry, and rethink what goes on behind the scenes in the places we dine.

Join us for a special screening this Saturday co-presented by New Latin Wave featuring a Q&A with Director Alonso Ruizpalacios following the film.

THIS THURSDAY October 17 at 7:30pm
Join us for Nova Materia’s New York debut as part of Lincoln Center’s #FestivalOfFirsts
FREE Entry ⚡️ Doors 7pm

Franco-Chilean duo Eduardo Henriquez and Caroline Chaspoul of the seminal band Panico @panico_theband formed Nova Materia to explore and incorporate sounds generated by raw and mineral materials such as rocks and metal and experiment with an an entirely new hypnotic sound, and quickly found a devoted audience on the European festival circuit and as film composers.

Their songs are in turn hyper-rhythmic and dreamy, diving into postpunk rock or electronic dance, and absolutely mesmerizing, do not miss this unique opportunity to see them in New York City!
