What a day and evening! We started last night with the Alumni Awards Dinner at which spoke our honorary degree recipients and alumni award recipients, and then moved into this morning’s festivities: Commencement! So while the weather outside was gnarly and ruinous, the joy inside as we celebrated these young people (and some not-so-young people) and their accomplishments was deliciously joyful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🫶🏾 In these photos are our honorary degree recipients (Julie Mehretu, David Wiseman, Ron Chast, and Stephen A. Metcalf), Board members, faculty, and friends. Congratulations again, Class of 2026!! Onward you go into the big, beautiful wilds. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish! And congratulations again to HD recipients: alums juliemehretu , @dwisemanstudio, @rozchast, and Stephen A. Metcalf, arts patron, philanthropist, and member of RISD’s founding family! @risdalumni @risd1877

2025 was a whirlwind. So much has happened, started the year with a sprained ankle, LA was on fire (literally), so many work trips, attended Epic Universe opening, started cosplaying again, went to my favorite band of 25 years’ concert (guess which one), Mozart had major surgery and recovered, I started working out daily again, visited all the Death Eaters around the world 😂, got to attend some fun work events, and so many other things that is impossible to fit in one post! (Also so sorry if I missed you in a tag I can only tag 20 😭! I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people) 2026 is gonna continue being great ! My resolution this year for myself is to “be open” to new adventures, people, friends, and whatever life brings! Cheers!🥂 #happynewyear #2025

Huge thanks to the RISD Alumni Club of LA for putting this together! Especially to Erwin Miller for coming up with the idea and all his BTS magic yo make it happen. Im also very grateful yo all the friends who came out. The show was a little tribute to our OG gallery back in College Hill , and it was amazing to bring that spirit to the west coast, seeing all the work, reconnecting with other alumns. One of the best parts was meeting incoming RISD students and their families at an earlier event. It actually brought back a warm memory. Years ago, mu mom went to one of these events in Providence and came back to Puerto Rico saying she had met all these wonderful parents including a great guy named Mr Fernandez. He turned out to be my roommate Juliana’s dad and I spent many holidays with her family in NY. Full circle moment.
