I always keep an eye out for artwork at markets. These are some of my favorites!

@j.vernne had so many cool prints. I couldn’t decide and bought a journal scrap pack

@pikleaf has always been so talented. I couldn’t wait for a market and went straight to their Etsy

@soledawg also makes beautiful piñatas. Her art fit perfectly next to a print I picked up back at school

@darylsdoodles I was immediately drawn to their stand at a market in LA. Everything was so cute and bright I had to buy something

I adore this print from @houseof_filles. I filled in space with some random stickers I had. I also bought a Sailor Mercury print, so cuuute!

For Soledawg, piñatas carry culture, memory and the Indigenous traditions that have traveled across Latin America and other colonized lands. 🪅

Born and raised in Oceanside on Luiseño land and now creating on Kumeyaay land, the artisan has built her practice around papier mâché, lived experience and the community that raised her.

For her latest collaboration with San Diego FC, that work is taking over matchday in a big way.

Soledawg created a piñata installation measuring approximately seven by twelve feet that will hang at FanFest, surrounded by apparel and accessories featuring details drawn from the craft she grew up with.

At the center of the collection is a skeleton in a San Diego FC uniform, blindfolded and mid swing in a pair of huaraches. It is playful, specific and unmistakably rooted in culture.

Fans will be able to experience the art at the stadium and then wear a piece of it home.

This group show was a special one for me. I got friends to make snoopy art to display for my birthday 🎂 The outcome was amazing!! I’m grateful to be surrounded by such amazing artists/friends. I love you all so much. The show wouldn’t have happened without you all !! I’m grateful to have spent time with you 🫶🏽

iHola querides miembros de la comunidad! Please join us at Centro Cultural de la Raza on Saturday, August 15th (4pm-10pm) for our second Ternura Radical Open Mic & Mercadito! 🪅✨At our first event we were able to raise over $7,000 to support North County, a region that continues to see high levels of enforcement and need. After all the blessings & caring feedback from our first event, we decided to organize our second fundraiser for North County families impacted by ic3 enforcement & family separation.

Our fundraiser will consist of:
• A mercadito full of beautiful offerings (see above for vendor list!)
• An open mic, with spots open for 1st-come-1st-serve sign-ups
• A poetry performance by @vianneyharelly 🐎
• Drag performances by @xaime_raquelita, @lunaeclipsedrag, and @veronica.femme 👑
• Music & dancing with @lospaisanosss 🦇

Please come with open hearts to spend time in community while we share space, food, love, art, joy, grief, music, and laughter. 🫂

All vendors in El Mercadito will donate a portion of their proceeds to the fundraiser. Entry fee will be a sliding scale of $10-$20 by cash or Venmo. However, nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.

The theme of the fundraiser is Ternura Radical (radical tenderness), a term coined by Lía García (La Sirena Novia). It is defined as the act of sustaining ourselves, and one another, with revolutionary love amidst violence. We encourage all performing artists to incorporate the theme into their performances. 🌟❤️‍🔥

Masks are highly encouraged.

This event is being organized by three roommates with lots of love. iNos vemos pronto! 💌
