Flashback Views: A Black Art Fair + Afterparty _________ Three weekends ago, we gathered at ALBUM Studios for an even entitled The Record Room to celebrate @niacentre ‘s third Black Art Fair. The afterparty - like the event it was held to honour - brought together art lovers, curators, creators and community. Hosted by artist @olu.seye it promised and delivered a “communal space to unwind, eat, dance, and reflect on the brilliance of Black artistry” That promise was kept. Oluseye was among the artists who, over the years, have been nurtured and supported by the Nia Centre. This year’s fair featured artists at different stages in their careers but shone a spotlight on young, emerging Canadian artists. At the event, Oluseye acknowledge his appreciation for the important work of the Nia Centre and all those who have supported him throughout his artistic journey. Fittingly, he also announced the recent acquisition of his mixed-media work Subject to the Tide (After David Hammons) by the National Gallery of Canada - a cause for even more celebration. _________ Here’s a selection of photos from the after party’s buck-ups and pose-ups @thelegendaryphotobooth and art from the fair itself. Big-up to my brother with the camera @cloglo for some of these images

My faves from @niacentre A Black Art Fair this past weekend. A Black Art Fair is an annual, multidisciplinary, 3-day exhibition dedicated to the promotion and sale of artworks by Black-Canadian artists from across the country. So happy my schedule allowed me to visit the exhibition this year. I loved seeing lots of red dots. I went on the last day, but I think I have to go on the first day next year to have a better chance at buying art. Congratulations to the artists and the lucky buyers who get to take home amazing art. Put this on your calendar for next year! #ABlackArtFair #NiaCentre #Toronto #ArtFair #BlackCanadianArtists #BlackArt #AfroDiaspora #WhereArtMakesCulture #BringBlackArtHome #MoreArtThisWay #BuyArt #ArtBlog #ArtBlogger #BloggersOnInstagram

PSRR is back with a brand-new logo and name! 🌺🌼🌸🌻 We’re proud to present the new visual identity and name of PSRR – the Platform for the Self-determination of Racialized People in Research, created by, for, and with Black and racialized women and people with marginalized gender identities in research. This logo embodies the vision and trajectory of the PSRR. It symbolizes a transition — from fire to bloom. Initially rooted in resistance and intensity — as seen in the early initiatives like our forum “Brûler la mèche par les deux bouts” and the podcast “En fleurs, Plus en feu !” — the platform is now moving toward a space of collective growth, care, and flourishing. The flowers, the confident figure, and the vibrant colors reflect this intention: to create a space where Black and racialized people in research can exist fully, care for themselves, and blossom — unapologetically. PSRR is not just a space of resistance; it is fertile ground for the blooming of free, dignified, and powerful trajectories. #PARRestDeRetour #PSRRisBack

It's technically almost summertime, although it may feel like it in some places already! Like here in Southern California, it's been in the high 80s and low 90s this week. 🥵🥵🥵 Which nail shape are we rockin' going into summer? Major shoutout to @eelise_ndri for revamping our brand nail shape chart! 👩🏾‍🎨

On l'adore !
