Books, baddies & birthday celebrations! 📚💅🏾💕🎂

We celebrated @maryjayy___ birthday the best way we know how… with a BOOK CRAWL! 🥳📖

Our stops included Solid State Books, Loyalty Books, and Sankofa Video, Books & Café before ending the crawl at our favorite spot, Mahogany Books! 🖤📚 Of course, we had to keep the birthday vibes going with food and drinks at Rosa Mexicano! 🥂🌮

A day full of books, laughs, good food, and even better company. ✨ Happy Birthday, Miracle! 💕

A love letter to DMV bookstores 💌

Last week I was in DC for a work trip, and I spent a couple extra days there to see some of my dear friends, which was food for the soul. While I was there, @angreadseverything and I went on a little book crawl across Old Town Alexandria, where we visited @longdarkhouse, @friendstoloversbookstore, and @oldtownbooks. Not pictured was my stop earlier in the week to @solidstatedc with my coworkers. It was so nice to be back around some of my favorite bookstores and explore new ones!

Prisons censor staggering numbers of books and other reading materials, not just for their content but for a stunning range of capricious reasons including the size of a book or the color of mailed wrapping paper. Today is the last day of our Banned Books Week book drive, where every book donated from our partner independent bookstores will be matched by a monetary donation. This is your last chance to triple your donation to help us serve the incarcerated. Check out our wishlists here - linktr.ee/dcbtp (link in bio) #BannedBooksWeek #BooksToPeopleInPrison #bookstagram
