Paper Daisies and Superior Olive Oil
by Fiona Solley

Pink paper daisies fill a Superior Olive Oil tin against a fresh green background.

Their clustered flowers, patterned leaves and butterflies make this original artwork especially lively.

A little piece of Eutopia, shaped by Stella Rokou’s hands and shared with artists from around the world. 🤍

We’re continuing a beautiful tradition lovingly initiated by Stella, who invites artists from our residency groups to take part in this ongoing community project.

Artists from around the world, together with local participants, create ceramic tiles that will become part of a shared wall in Kavala’s Old Town, near the Kamares aqueduct.

A small gesture of connection between people, places and creative practices - leaving something behind, together.

Honestly, I actually would be really sad if you only wanted to wear my Rattamatatt beauties for 1 season. I did put this one away for a while but after a stint hiding in the back of the wardrobe for a year or 2, I loved taking her out for a spin on the weekend ✨️

Has anyone else got this one still?

This Wednesday 17 June will be the last of our Spring/Summer Online Travel Sketch Sessions!

After enjoying @designfestbrum so much, and having met people who travelled from Canada, France, and the United States to visit it, I think we should sketch scenes from good old Birmingham!

We'll be live on Zoom and will sketch four or five scenes from across Brum in timed bursts.

There will be time at the end to share your sketches for group feedback if you wish. There is no pressure to turn your cameras or microphones on.

🎟 Get your ticket, via the link in bio. You'll get an email with the Zoom link after purchase. Please check your spam/junk folders.

👀 Looking forward to seeing you there.

After this session we'll be taking a little Summer break before launching a new series of Autumn/Winter dates.

There are quite a few of us with Hong Kong on the list of places to visit after seeing and hearing more about it.

Are you heading to @yam.coffs tomorrow night for @artngreys Kate Mackay’s “Everything at Once” opening? Perfect, stay on the colour high and wander down the lane afterwards, we’re opening up The Laneway Gallery for a special late-night viewing, because when you’ve already got your good art-loving pants on, one exhibition really just isn’t enough!

What: Fairy Floss Fantasy — over 35 local and interstate artists, all pink, playful and a little bit unexpected
Where: The Laneway Gallery (opposite Park Ave Woolworths, next to Happy Frog Café)
When: Thursday 23 April, 6:30–8:30pm
Why: Because you’re already out supporting the arts, may as well make a night of it. Plus, bubbles on arrival… and @kingtidebrewing just down the lane 😉
Free entry. Come say hi ✨

PART 2:

Thought I should shout out to the people that helped Saturday come together and share some more of these incredible photos by Elize @twinrivers_ 😌👏💖

Huge thanks to @i_hart_bella for bringing the outdoor decor vibes and her life-hacks that saved the day multiple times, James @yesiwillshoot, Bianca @beehudson_art and Lara @upside_down_fitness_ for jumping in to help before I drowned completely, and @venaklymo again for being such a pleasure to work with and bringing the laneway to life 😌💖

Dad helped me out of a couple of pickles, covered some costs, and let me be the overthinking stressed out princess I inevitably become under pressure (all during his 70th birthday week)! 😘

I’m incredibly proud of this little gallery (especially in a regional town and in times like these), creating space for affordable, alternative art is a huge passion of mine and I hope I can find a way to keep it going through all this madness 😵‍💫🥰💕
