For @solo___show ‘s Symposium of Post Mysticism, I wrote & created this piece ‘You Are Software: Performing Waifu in The Wired’. Beginning as an analysis of my own experiences being a cosplayer online at a young age, it quickly developed into a broader and more encapsulating look on feminist social theory, digital identity & the rules/restrictions/distortions of simulated connection in the digital landscape - using my favourite media from that period both as supporting evidence & a way of personifying/cinema-tising my writing. As requested, here is the full thing uploaded on here! - It will also be up on the Solo Show website alongside today’s other talks, and I’m going to try to get it onto YouTube soon as well because I know Instagram isn’t the nicest way to view a video essay lol. Hope you enjoy & I’d love to hear anyone’s own takes or opinions on these concepts too! As said, this is a very personal piece so hearing other outlooks would be fascinating to me. Xoxo Cali
