The transition from student to career professional hits different when you realize you’re about to stop being a “baby leader” and start building REAL legacy...

This moment right here captures something so many of us feel but rarely talk about - that shift from learning to leading, from following paths to creating them.

Key takeaways from this conversation:
✨ The power of reflecting on your journey before stepping into your next chapter
✨ How alumni networks (like Howard’s) create pipelines for future generations
✨ Why giving back to your community should be part of your career vision
✨ The mindset shift from “student leader” to “adult leader”

What resonated most: The idea of creating systems that help others climb the same ladder you’re on. Whether it’s speaking at your old school or building college pipelines - leadership isn’t just about personal success, it’s about lifting as you climb.

Question for you: What’s one way you want to give back to your community once you reach your career goals? Drop it below 👇

This is just a snippet from our deep dive into leadership, consistency, and becoming the leader you’ve been waiting for. The full conversation covers so much more about navigating career transitions, building authentic networks, and creating lasting impact.

What does it mean to become the leader you were waiting for?

This powerful question hit different when our guest shared how he created “Brothers Empowered” at his PWI campus - a space for men of color to connect, support each other, and build community where none existed before.

Here’s the real talk:
✨ Leadership isn’t about waiting for permission
✨ It’s about seeing a need and filling it
✨ It’s about creating the change you want to see
✨ It’s about leaving an impact wherever you go

His story proves that sometimes the leader you’re waiting for... is YOU.

Whether you’re in high school, college, or navigating your career - you have the power to create the spaces, communities, and changes that matter to you.

The question isn’t “Am I ready to lead?”
The question is “What impact do I want to leave behind?”

This conversation will challenge how you think about leadership, community building, and your own potential to create lasting change.

Remember being told “don’t be a follower” as a kid?

Most of us heard it but never really got it. This guy did - and it changed everything.

In 3rd grade, he dressed up as Obama for Halloween. Not because it was trendy, but because he saw someone who looked like him leading at the highest level. That moment? Game changer.

The shift: “Why can’t I be president? Why not me?”

Here’s what he learned that most people miss:

• Leadership starts with family messaging (daily reinforcement matters)
• Representation unlocks possibility
• The right question changes your entire trajectory

While everyone else was playing follow the leader, he was asking “Why not me?”

Now he’s the one people look up to.

The full conversation reveals the exact mindset shifts that separate leaders from followers - and why most people never make the switch.

Don’t sleep on this one. The leadership framework he shares is pure gold.
