An open letter to my best friend @its_me_jessyg 💌 I don’t think either of us knew it at the time, but six years ago, we found each other exactly when we needed to most. Somewhere along the way, you became the sister I always wished I had, my partner in crime and one of the greatest loves of my life. People often joke that we “should just get married” because it’s hard to imagine one of us without the other. You are, without a doubt one of the funniest, most talented, patient and thoughtful humans I’ve ever known. I don’t think you’ll ever fully understand just how much better my life is because you’re in it. I’d go as far as saying anyone who has the privilege of being in your world, is infinitely luckier because of it. You really do brighten every single room you walk into, leaving trails of confetti everywhere you go. We’ve laughed, cried, crashed out, danced, snacked, we’ve clowned countless times to Taylor Swift and collected enough photos and memories to last several lifetimes. ✨🩵 HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY 🩵✨ to one of my absolute favourite people, EVER! We came for the puppy cuddles. We left with three paintings, the sweetest memories and a little boy who couldn't have been happier. After a beautiful but incredibly busy few weeks, this was exactly the kind of afternoon we needed as a family. From the moment we arrived at Kids Puppy & Paint Therapy, there was something so lovely about the atmosphere. Soft music playing, cushions, canvases and puppy-safe paints waiting for us. A warm welcome from Nia and her team, and the freedom to create whatever we wanted. And so we sat, the three of us, painting side by side. Little hands and big hands busy creating, with Kai adding his own special touches to all three canvases. His, Dad's and mine. And then came the puppies. 🥹 Wandering around, playing and stopping for the sweetest cuddles. Our little animal lover was completely smitten, and so gentle and affectionate with them. "The puppies love me," he proudly announced. And he certainly loved them right back. 🤎 But what made this experience so special wasn't just watching our little boy enjoy himself. It was that we were all part of it. Painting together. Laughing together. Sharing puppy cuddles and soaking up the simple joy of being together. And that's what I love about what Nia has created. A welcoming space for people of all ages to get creative, connect with animals and find a little joy outside the busyness of everyday life. Whether that's with family, friends, your partner or simply doing something lovely for yourself. There is something pretty special about an experience that brings out that playful, joyful side of us all. And those three paintings? They're now proudly displayed together in Kai's bedroom. A little piece of our afternoon that we get to keep. 🥹 Thank you, Nia and @tinytailstherapy, for welcoming our family and creating something so thoughtful for our Perth community. 🤎 📍 We attended at Sol Tank Studio, Clarkson, with Tiny Tails Therapy experiences held at various locations across Perth. 🎨 60-minute session with all painting materials provided. I’ve never been one for “branding shoots” — ironic, given I’ve changed my logo more times than Britain has changed prime ministers in the past 14 years that I’ve been a sole trader and that’s saying something! The whole facade of people doing what they do in a crisp, clean studio, wearing things they wouldn’t normally work in and striking their best poses always seemed a bit fake to me. But I guess that’s what marketing is. Not so much smoke and mirrors, but showing a polished version of yourself. Showing the world that you’re not always feral , that you can scrub up and look put together ( in good lighting ) It’s also very handy having proper headshots on hand for commission applications rather than digging through the camera roll for something suitable. So Maddie @studio.444_ convinced me to have a go, and I like Maddie, and it turns out the shoot was actually a lot of fun. Zero awkwardness. No major effort either — just ironed some jeans, grabbed some seasonal flowers from The Greenshed and my garden, then foraged a few bits on the drive to @soltankstudio There we put the tunes on, gossiped and each did our thing. 🌺📸✂️ And now I have some polished shots of me “at work” and, you know what… I’m not mad. I’m fine 🧡
